    Wrong.

The plot is always moving forward. Itís just taking itís time to get there; like a nice leisurely drive.

And I think it helps going into it completely blind. I didnít know the first act twist (thatís usually mentioned in a lot of synopses of the movie). And thereís more great twists throughout that I did not see coming.

I liked Drive My Car, but I didn't love it...and I think Matthew's take is a perfectly fine one to have. It's not a movie for everyone, and if you're not emotionally attached to the story, those twists with exception to the first one, probably don't stand a good chance of changing the viewer's tune on it.

It's not a thriller, so if you're not really vibing with a slow-paced character driven drama about a grief-stricken protagonist, I can't see how a few unexpected curveballs are really going to change anything.

Frankly, I think a lot of the play rehearsal stuff could have been cut out and the movie would have lost little for it, if anything at all.

That is exactly how I felt about that movie.

Hot tub time machine is also in that category. Crispin Glover is a national treasure.

    After Yang - 4/5
This was real good, the last act especially. Was not prepared for that. I could see knocking this down to 3.5 later in the year.

After Yang is on my short list; that type of movie is right up my ally.

Over the last week or so I've watched The Green Knight, The Last Duel, and Bo Burnham's Inside. Thumbs up for all three, especially The Last Duel.

    F9.

My wife and I love the franchise and each has been more ridiculous than the last, but this one really was truly terrible and stupid. JFC. I wish I hadn't been "spoiled" by a podcast I listen to about the space scene so I could know what my genuine first reaction would have been.

And I love Han but that storyline has gotten so fucking out of hand.

Saw Free Guy was on D+ and we watched the trailer -- felt like I got much more of an idea of the plot than from whatever previews I'd seen a long time ago. We added it to our list.

Free Guy was fine, but kinda too long. I hate when they spend so much time on a resolution to a fun, stupid movie. It doesn't matter, we're not emotionally involved, just keep the jokes coming and end it in 90 minutes.

Yeah I agree there was some fat they could have trimmed in the first two acts.

    Free Guy 7.5 / 10

Really had some 8.0+ potential. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought the third act went a bit off the rails though, and there was definitely some parts that could be trimmed. This obviously wasn't a sincere introspection, but the idea of "killing" the first artificial intelligence is a really compelling storyline, and I wish they would have hit on this a little harder. I love Taika Waititi but his villain became almost too cartoonish.

Ryan Reynolds is pretty much always thoroughly enjoyable, but especially in this movie. Other than Dude, that was too much.

Other than the obvious cameo, Dude got the biggest laughs out of me. CATCH PHRASE.

Just finished Bicycle Thieves - 4/5. Working my way up the list of Cahiers du Cinema Top 100. Has anybody else ever seen this? The father/son duo worked really well.
