Really? I thought he sounded good on Sirius and thought he played some pretty inspired solos. Also thought it was impressive he knew the songs so well. I know he’s played with Dave before, but I was surprised.

I really noticed it on DDTW, Madman’s Eyes, and I forgot which song but I think there’s even a point where you can hear through the music that Rashawn just said “ya know what, don’t worry I got it just don’t play it”


But yes, DDTW stands out as especially bad, although WWYS stands out as especially good

Haven’t listened to much of MSG, but from what I heard I wasn’t blown away by the sax player either. He was super low in the mix, and understandably so he didn’t quite fit. Solos were alright, but he was just kind of there. I was really surprised they got someone to fill in. Thought for sure it would have been Rashawn and maybe some guest horn players on Jimi Thing and a couple other tunes.

He was low in the mix. My friend and I actually remarked during the show that he was too quiet.

The Jimi at Mohegan was my favorite of the tour cause they cut all the covers except one, and the cover they did choose felt like it was a natural addition to the song. It made Jimi shorter than it had been in a while by quite a few minutes.

It’s alright…def not “amazing” though, IMO.

Lyrics could be better. And the melody is a bit cringey.

Be Yourself is a much better song than people give it credit for. Yes, the lyrics are terrible, but musically it's catchy and I'd love to see the lyrics redone. Also, I never understood how people could make fun of the derpa, derpa derpa beginning to Be Yourself, but love scat beginning to Sweet Up and Down.

NOTE: I'm not saying that Be Yourself is as good as SUAD, it's nowhere close.

Also a fan...I enjoyed it when we saw it live in 2016. Some of lyrics may no longer be okay in that they could potentially be interpreted as an attack on certain communities. But I love the intro and the song is a great funky R&B tune. It's almost something you'd expect more out the the current iteration of the band rather than the last one...

I’ve always been the same way about Jimi Thing. Melodically it sounds like it’s going off the rails but miraculously doesn’t.

D&T Gorge '21 is solid, Dave solo Sweet Briar is my favorite version, don't like it full band

But I think people admitting they don't like Jimi Thing isn't unpopular. If Jimi Thing were a 7 minute song, lots of people would then be calling for it to be shelved entirely.

I really like Angel. Not the “iiiiiiiiiiiiii am talking bout the DRUMMAHHHHH” Lovely Ladies versions, but I’d love to see it come back as even like a 5-6 minute song where they play it like the studio version plus some space for Tim & Rashawn to do some soloing.
