Primary education isn't a strong area of expertise for me, and I don't have kids of my own yet, so I am usually not "with it" or up to date on everything in that arena. While I don't necessarily always agree with your education takes, you're no doubt the most informed person (or at least the one who expresses and posts about it) in this thread on this issue. I think we need more people like you voicing their views on education

My kids go to a private school, so I doubt I’d get any votes for a school board.
And I don’t think 1 school board can affect the fundamental change we need. The crisis of our educational system, particularly the role it plays in systemic racism and civil rights, is one of the most pressing issues in this country, but also one that is largely ignored. Kids can’t vote, and suburbanites in good districts definitely don’t want anything to change, so here we are. It’s the dirty little secret we all ignore.
I have less than zero interest in being involved in any form of local government.
Once my kids are both in school FT, my goal has always been to be a CASA volunteer.
