Thought this too, and he is very guilty of it very often. The 7/24 version leads me to believe it was, in fact, the Sirius mix that misled us. Zero struggle in 7/24, no real examples of that "quiet" voice either.

But I've also had some rare instances where I've revisited things that didn't pass the 5 test later and then fell in love with them. Shit, sometimes that's like years later.

So who knows. Music definitely hits different people differently.

Riff driven, non-straight forward melody, fleshed out contributions from all band members, non-bland arrangement, outro with a bit of a solo and good underlying groove. Regardless of how the execution off those things personally hits you, these are things that are typically part of good dmb tunes. So good to see they have a presence in this song.
Examples of this for me is born and raised by John Mayer. Just revisited and I can easily say it’s one of my favorite albums ever despite not being thrilled with 90% of it in 2012. Example 2 is rhcp the getaway. At first I thought it sucked. I went to a local casino rhcp cover band they had play which they played one of the songs making me go back and relisten and sure enough 1 by 1 I started to slowly like or love many of the songs on there.

I find the music that takes me time to discover stays with me forever as opposed to ones I like the first time I hear them (majority of music anyway).

Listed to the Charlotte version just now. Sounds a bit tighter and cleaner than the Raleigh version.

Man, if this outro doesn't become the beginning of some awesome extended jam over time like #41 is or something similar, it will be a real missed opportunity. The root if it is legit perfect for something like that.

Lyrics are a lot deeper then you think IMO, he’s equating a woman to the feeling of being high and the desire to get back on a trip when you are sober, with words about desiring a woman.

I’m not good at explaining it but I think it’s not straightforward.

The song has multiple interesting sections, lots going on with the music, a nice airy jam, packs a punch in certain sections and all around is solid A- for me.

This video helped me appreciate it more.

I think I like the song more each time I listen to it and I already liked it. Even though 7/24 was a better performance, having the video is sweet. Helps me appreciate it even more.

I guess i can mention this because they are not illegal at all: Honestly i should probably experiment more! i have hand gathered several over the years and carefully dried them.

The way that i have learned to appreciate interacting with them is to chew on and then swallow a jellybean sized piece before sleeping.
It changes the styles of dreams, and, how deep and real the environments in the dreams feel, and other people have said the same. I am always so surprised at how well it works that it has become something i rarely do, like i can't and wouldn't want to resist respecting that something like it is actually real!

Song is legit. Jam like the one w Jeff is what I used to listen to DMB for, and is about as good as we can expect w the band now. Really solid.

Song is excellent - glad that Alagia or whomever nudged Dave to bring in Carter to add his flair to it because it worked dammit. Just the song overall does a good job of using all current members, top to bottom good song that has some old school feel to it, I like it it’s good it’s fun

i would start a text podcast with anyone else who wanted to appear, by starting a thread to that effect in one of the other topic forums..!!

i always like the idea of people being able to hear the podcast in any of their own voices to feel through and also all of the music they want to hear during it! Of course a message board thread is an excellent podcast equivalent!!

Will enjoy checking out the Sirius rip of it then! Do agree that it’s a great little song and a good first taste of whatever’s coming (hoping more in the same vein)
