Dave solo spot for E1 - Antsmarching.org Forums

I always loved how some shows had Dave come out to start the encore by himself and play a song solo (Some Devil, Little Red Bird, Needle and Damage Done, Whiter Shade of Pale, etc.) but it seems like this has declined heavily in recent years.

Wish it would come back more. Just a personal preference.

I am all for this as long as it isn't some devil every other night...If he actually mixed it up that would be awesome.

I like the solo E1 as long as he mixes it up and it is followed by 2 full band songs. I've always disliked shows that end

Completely agree. I wish more of those some devil songs or the fly showed up in that spot.

absolutely agreed. would love to see Dodo have that spot, but that would be great/better? full band too. up and away, grey blue eyes, etc.. a lot of potential. hope they change it up a bit this year.

Or when he used to come out and play typical or 40. I'd take 2 full band songs over any of those

I agree completely, I just wish he switched up the songs more.

Typical Situation, Cry Freedom, etc.

I think the E1 slot is so underutilized by DMB. I think it's the most fun and versatile slot to mess around with. Could play a banger like Last Stop or DDTW more too.

Yeah would be nice to see random tunes played E1 that usually get full band treatment. Even the Some Devil tunes would be a bit fresher if Dave came out and played somethin like So Damn Lucky or Stay or Leave by himself.

I wouldn't, because this would mean Dave is challenging himself and not relying on the usual solo song choices for E1. Also, I Did It solo isn't too bad...Much better than full band.

Make it an actual surprise by opening up the songs it could be.

No offense to Sister, but I've heard that like 3-4 shows in a row I went to in E1.

Satellite would be much cooler at a full band show if Dave came out and did it solo E1 randomly. I don't understand with all the songs he has and ones he has beaten to death for over 25 years, how he doesn't just take a random song they are already doing on tour every tour each night and bring it solo for the e1.

Crash Into Me, Space Between, Don't Drink The Water, Grey Street, You and Me, Mercy, So Much To Say, Everyday, Where Are You Going, Grace Is Gone, JIMI THING, Funny, ANY Some Devil song...are a different spin on the song you always see and feel more refreshing than cover he's obsessed with/Sister/Oh in the solo spot

I certainly wouldn't be "mad", but there is a long list of songs I'd rather see before that.

But if I had to pick, I'd rather have it acoustic than full band. It's just a bad song.
