I say this all the time. It's a totally underrated year. I'd argue it may have even been the band's best year. Even the Everyday songs took on a DMB life of their own. Fool to Think, Space Between, What You Are, Everyday, So Right and When the World Ends were some of the best loved songs off the album and they sounded great. On top of that, You Neer Know, completed Lillywhite tunes including regular play of Kit Kat Jam and Captain, the return of Pig, flawless set lists (minus the nasty 4/5/02 encore), the band sounded on point including Boyd not really playing out of tune and Roi still playing with fire, Busted Stuff came out, DMB was all over TV, they did a live audio webcast of 7/25/02, the infamous Gorge run. It was such a good summer.

I'm also biased because that was the summer I was in my band and played all over Ohio, had a blonde "hippie" bombshell girlfriend (Urban Outfitter hippie), saw the two smoking Polaris shows (8/5 & 8/6 sat 12th row - closest I'd ever been - at the last minute). It was kind of my "Summer of '69".

All three of the DMB/Flecktones Canada Spring '02 shows should be released in a glorious LT Vol 45 package including the opening Flecktones sets in each case.

Such a great three days in a row. So mad I only went to Toronto and Ottawa, should totally have done Montreal too.

I recall 12.5.00 at Allstate being an excellent show, with one moment in particular standing out to me, even 17 years later. The outro to Bartender was absolutely nuts in person. Maybe the craziest goosebumps moment I've ever experienced at a show by any band. Dave did such a beautiful job with the falsettos and the crowd was worked into a frenzy by the time he hit the super high note. The place was shaking and I remember Dave screaming one of the chest voice high notes from halfway between the microphone and the floor; he was almost on his knees, singing with an insane amount of passion. Unbelievable.

(The night before at Allstate... 12.4... was awesome, too. That was the night where Dave and Carter came out and played Halloween as a duo. So cool!! Great Two Step, as well, on that 12.4 show.)

I'd take the very best summer '05 show, it probably will have a #34 within it. But I wouldn't know, I don't listen to tapes.

As for summer '97, I'd take 6.20.97. Just the standard five, plus a LYD with Roi.

Can’t live Trax just get it together, if they choose one show from a multi night venue, release the whole damn two nights or three nights. I wish management would just do this as a courtesy!! Charge double or triple I don’t care, my ocd kills me with this!!
