Maybe. This youtube link doesn't identify him as the animator, but links to several of his other videos on the righthand side of the page.

Homer's got the remote at the TV, it displays today's date, and first it flashes back to a date in 1987, and the animation gradually changes so Homer looks how he was drawn back in the Tracey Ulman days. But then it goes to like 15,000 years into the future, and it just gets fuckin weirder from there. Like the writers were genuinely on acid or something when they devised this.

but then the episode itself, which I didn't even realize they'd done a lot of supposed hype up over the offseason about killing "a beloved character", I didn't know this at all until yesterday. But it was a real let down, it was just Krusty's father, the rabbi voiced by Jackie Mason. He's only even been on the show a handful of times over the years.

EDIT: alright duh, shoulda known the couch gag would probably already be on youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m78gYyTrG7Y
I turned it off during the intro b/c it was terrible. Then flipped it back to confirm it was Krusty's dad (which it obviously was...)

Show is so sad now... The episode was a microcosm of the Simpsons - as Krusty was once great and now a joke so is The Simpsons.

well and the Simpsons/Family Guy mashup wasn't too much to write home about, either. maybe a too late kind of thing. And it probably could've just been a half hour, didn't have to expand it as there was a bit of filler. Not the least of which being the big Homer & Peter fight at the end, typical FG trope, making one single joke waaaaaay too long.

In anticipation of Treehouse of Horror XXV this Sunday, I spent the last two weeks watching all of the previous Halloween specials. My favorites:

    Segments
    1. Time and Punishment (Treehouse of Horror V)
    2. The Shinning (Treehouse of Horror V)
    3. Bart Simpson’s Dracula (Treehouse of Horror IV)
    4. Clown Without Pity (Treehouse of Horror III)
    5. Dial “Z” for Zombies (Treehouse of Horror III)
    6. Attack of the 50-Foot Eyesores (Treehouse of Horror VI)
    7. Lisa’s Nightmare – The Monkey’s Paw (Treehouse of Horror II)
    8. The Devil and Homer Simpson (Treehouse of Horror IV)
    9. Terror of Tiny Toon (Treehouse of Horror IX)
    10. Night of the Dolphin (Treehouse of Horror XI)

    Episodes
    1. Treehouse of Horror V
    2. Treehouse of Horror IV
    3. Treehouse of Horror VI
    4. Treehouse of Horror III
    5. Treehouse of Horror IX
    6. Treehouse of Horror II
    7. Treehouse of Horror XI
    8. Treehouse of Horror VIII
    9. Treehouse of Horror VII
    10. Treehouse of Horror I

The decline in quality was noticeable beginning with XII.

Treehouse of Horror V might be my favorite episode of the whole series, but I feel like that's a such a weird pick because it's not a "standard" episode.

Even the segment that didn't crack your top 10 — eating kids in the school cafeteria — is really good and really funny.

Lisa: Bart, does it strike you as odd that Uter disappeared and suddenly they're serving us this mysterious food called "Uterbraten"?

Principal Skinner: Oh relax kids, I've got a gut feeling Uter's around here somewhere hahahahaha, after all isn't there a little Uter in all of us? hahahaha... hahaha, in fact, you might even say we just ate Uter, and he's in our stomachs... right now! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!... Wait, scratch that one.

I can't even begin to imagine The Simpsons without Flanders, let alone Mr. Burns, Smithers and Principal Skinner.

Uproxx's take on it was correct: Just end the show.

Al Jean says they'll recast. I'm sure that's a power play to convince Shearer to come back.

man the first place I saw about this anywhere today was on Collider, and initially I freaked out because the way their headline read, I thought it meant Shearer had died.

I absolutely HATE the notion of simply another actor doing what would amount to like at least a third of the voices on the whole show. I have no doubt they could wind up finding someone who'd virtually sound identical to Shearer's characters. Hell I know that I can do a few of them very well. But still, it just ain't the same thing. I mean I mentioned this recently upon hearing they were greenlit for 2 more seasons: I kept defending this show it felt like A LOT longer than most others did for it still being reasonably funny at times (whereas you'll see others say like that anything past season 12 has been totally unwatchable, something like that). But even I'm to the point, and I've felt this way for awhile now, I wouldn't think twice if they finally decided to end it, I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep. And especially now if they'll lose such a major player? Just let it all go.

I stopped watching The Simpsons years ago. This show premiered when I was 13 years old (maybe 14 y/o). I'm 39 now. That's a great run by a tv show.

holy crap, when did the Simpsons get funny again?? I just happened upon this clip, it's about 75% of a whole episode, I was laughing my ass off practically just as much as I did back in the 90s

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmD9sc-qSQY

Tina Fey guested as a sub teacher that hates Lisa for seemingly no reason, and Flanders punches Homer so then wants to get hit back so they're even. This thing's from back in 2013, I'm stunned. am I crazy or was this thing pretty hilarious?

I haven't watched since season 9 but a friend of mine who writes for TV has basically never stopped watching and he's said they've actually been decent for a few years now. Not 3-8 quality but not terrible like everyone assumes. The main thing is writing contracts for them are 3 years so just depends on the group you have. Plus, the people writing are 'our' generation now but also adults so the humor could, in theory, be better.

    Re: Your Favorite Simpsons Episodes

Another sort of random top, I apologize, but i'm kinda blown away for such a major part of Simpsons lore that I somehow only just first heard now. The video I was watching earlier it itself even old, a little roundtable reunion that Conan was doing with a bunch of old Simpsons writers, done and uploaded in 2013 or so. But they got to talking about guest actors and Michael Jackson in particular. Now, I remember way back around after it first aired all these rumors that NONE of it was the real Michael Jackson, but somehow I knew to never really buy into that. But in this video they were talking about how all of the character dialog (of the 300lb white mental patient who's crazy enough to believe he's Michael) is genuinely Jackson, but the song, him doing "Happy Birthday Lisa" is NOT.

It was this, ironically enough, very young short white guy named Kip Lennon, he was a handpicked soundalike by Jackson, and he did all the singing. and apparently the excuse that Jackson gave to the producers in the moment is that he wanted to play a trick on some of the other Jackson brothers, cause it did sound exactly like him. But supposedly the real reason was related to his recording contract at the time, and they were afraid if he did the real singing the record label would've had him in trouble for it.

I was just kind of stunned that I never knew this (well and Jackson used a fake name for the end credits). He did however write all the music & lyrics for the "Do The Bartman" song, which absolutely became a genuine hit.
