Re: ~*~*~*~ Texas 2010 ~*~*~*~

I think we should do a contact list this year. That way, if anything comes up while we're on the road, we can update everyone via text (as I know not everyone has a smart phone where they can check this thread). It'll definitely help for the Dallas tailgate if we can't get the spot we initially plan for (Justin or I will post a map of the parking lot with our spot marked so people can find us, but there's no absolute guarantee that we'll be able to post up there).

So, if you wanna be on it, PM me or email me (ExistenceNow@gmail.com) the following info and I'll get a spreadsheet started:

First Name
Ants Username
Phone Number
Email address
Which of the two Texas shows you're going to

I'll email everyone the list the week of the shows.

2 night stand would be nice, but it would be awesome if they did an outside show in austin somewhere.

Going to the Houston show will be somuch easier and cheaper now that I live there

    Justin & Matthew,

Every year when I go to the SP.com center, I try unsuccessfully to park in the lot west of the venue. I know the main lot is on the east, but it seems like you can get out quicker after the show if you're in the west lot.

So, 1) is the west lot better, and 2) how do you get into it? I can never find where to turn in.

(I'm sure you know the lot I'm talking about, but to be clear, here's a link.)

we're usually super early and they have all the gates open so it's easy to just drive in there. OR, last year, we had to enter the east lot, then drive around the back of the lawn (between the pavilion and cotton bowl) on that little tiny road you see just between the lawn on that map.

sometimes there will be some attendants trying to route people away from the west lot because it's mostly just overflow after the east lot gets full. but we found that if you just tell them you are specifically going over there to meet up with a large group, they'll move the cones and let you in. at least, they have in the past.

we may just try to set up in the east lot this time right next to the gate if we're early enough this year. just make the entire thing easier on everyone.

    ^ Dead on.

The people "guarding" the entrance to the west lot are pimple faced teens making $7 an hour. Like Justin said, if you just tell them you're meeting people that are already in there, they'll let you in. They don't care. And if they won't, have someone get out of the car, move the cones, then drive through. When it comes down to it, even after initial objections, the attendants REALLY don't give a fuck. They're just programmed to wave you to the east lot.

We are planning on setting up our tailgate in the east lot this year though, because too many people in the past were unable to get in the west lot. Apparently not everyone has Justin's and my special gift of doing whatever we want and talking people into letting us do it.

Thanks for the info. One more question, in case I want to park there anyway:

Assuming you don't have to enter the east lot and drive all the way around, what's the way to enter the west lot? Off Fitzhugh, or Cullum?

I wanna say Fitz. Can't remember. There's two main gates. One for east and one for west. West is normally fir busses, crew, and VIP. But if you're there before 4, the attendants are normally not there yet and it's just a drive in and park where you want deal.

Personally, as much as I'd love to have them start playing SA again, I'd actually rather them go back to doing two night stands at The Woodlands.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe DMB was the ONLY act to ever sell out that Verizon (before it closed), in its opening season in 2001 (7.17.01, and maybe on 5.2.02, too)

I've seen John Mayer and George Strait in the AT&T Center and it was aight...not as good as an amphitheater would have been. It's probably the only place for many of these bands to play in SA now that Verizon closed.

I can't see any big band playing @ Wolff Stadium...the place is tiny (compared to Wrigley, Fenway, Citi Field, CBP), and it's way out in west SA as opposed to Selma which is North of SA and therefore closer to Austin- I'd also prefer a Woodlands Fri/Sat 2-nighter over a SA show

I am ISO a Warehouse ticket stub for the 8.15.08 show @ The Woodlands- anybody have an extra?

I'm all for a tailgate in the east lot...it's way more fun...but to do that with a lot of cars, you almost need to coordinate a meet up beforehand, somewhere outside fair park (at a gas station) and then caravan together to the lot so you can all block off a big spot together.

when latecomers trickle in, they can park close by (if not in the same area) and then just haul their gear over to the main group if need be. you know I'll be there!

Is anyone from Texas going to Alpine this year? My friend and i are going to fly up out of DFW and will be looking to hitch a ride so we dont have to get a cab. We will chip in for gas or whatever else is needed. PM or email me at C_savage19@yahoo.com if youre going or know someone who is going and would want to help us out!

Can you rent a car? That's what we did. Was only about $30/day and we split it with another couple that we stayed with at the resort.

Give him a shout again. We have 3 months til spac.

Honestly, going homemade might be legit. Google "how to make a screen print"

might turn out sweet and irregular looking. Like those shitty AF shirts except not every single shirt will have the same exact imperfection.

Yea. I have a friend who was going to get them screen printed but he's MIA now. So if I can't figure out an easy way to do it at home, we're gonna just have to order them from zazzle, which is pricey.

Just sent my boy another email, so I guess we'll see.

seems like the hardest part would be making the screens themselves. but once that's done, the rest is cake.

maybe it'd be something to look into one weekend if i make it to austin. beer and screen printing. maybe start simple like a state of texas with a firedancer in the middle, one color....?

seems like the hardest part would be making the screens themselves. but once that's done, the rest is cake.

maybe it'd be something to look into one weekend if i make it to austin. beer and screen printing. maybe start simple like a state of texas with a firedancer in the middle, one color....?

That could be fun. I'd be down.
