Official Charleston, SC Thread

I am so excited for a hometown show - finally!!! It's been almost 10 years since they played here. It's a crappy venue, but who cares - I finally get to go to a show where I don't have to leave the state!!

Let me hear from my fellow South Carolina Ants!

I just moved here December 28th from Tennessee, and with the closing of Starwood in Nashville I had been pretty bummed out...but this changes everything. My brother and I joked about how cool it would be if DMB came to Charleston knowing it would never happen!!!! I saw Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, and Ben Harper in one day at Joe Rilley stadium and thought it was a great venue, boats docked on the water, good tunes, general admission, plus July 4th in the best city in the world...NEED I SAY MORE!!!

I did go to UT, just graduated in December, started fall of 2003, had to get in that extra football season, looks like I should have stayed for this basketball season as well!

GA man, always GA. I salivate when I hear of GA concerts. That way, '98 WH members and rich kids don't get the best seats. True fans (definitely not implying that '98 WH members are not true fan--but as for the rich kids) who are willing to sit in the heat for hours upon hours get the best seats. Leaving my dorm at 2am, driving from Knoxville to Atlanta, riding an empty subway at 5:30, walking through Piedmont Park with a homeless man, sitting in line for 9 hours before the gates opened (followed by 5 hours of standing before DMB) , bartering a WH ticket in line, running ass off to the rail, purposefully dehydrating myself so I wouldn't have to leave my spot for anything, and watching an amazing concert on Sept 8, 2007 was one of the best days of my life.

    GA rocks.

I'm going to do everything possible to get to Charleston on July 4th with a GA ticket in hand.

    PS--I also go to UT.

Oh wow nice...two other UT'ers....I graduated Fall '05 and moved down to South Florida.

Kevin- Nice story...that's the reason I'm thinking about doing this show, you can't beat a GA Floor. Get there early and wait a while and get front row. Probably the closest I can ever get without paying big bucks.

I'm thinking of leaving work around 3-4pm on that Thursday, driving up and getting there by midnight.

Anyone got a link to how the stage will set-up for this show or any idea how many GA tickets they will sell. I have to admit i'm one of the spoiled 98 Warehouse members and the GA worries me, especially at a small venue like this when you can just hop your way over the metal bleachers and your on the field.

Definitely will be cool to see a show here, just curious if anyone has specifics on set-up and ticket quantity....have they ever had a concert there before???

How far in advance do you think a line will form for the GA Floor? (that way I can get there an hour earlier than that and be 1st in line)

The first post said this was a crappy venue. You are out of your mind. This minor league baseball stadium has been featured multiple times as one of the nations prettiest/nicest ball parks. It sits on the Ashley river and Brittlebank park. When Jack Johnson played here thousands tailgated Brittlebank and it was one of the best days i have ever had in Charleston. This is a dream gig. Dave in Chucktown at the Joe on the 4th!!!!!!!!!! Holla

I've seen plenty of shows at the Joe and what I meant by its a crappy venue is that it's not a typical place you're used to seeing DMB play b/c it's not set up for concerts. The stage will be set up in the outfield so get GA tickets, no sense getting a seat in the stands, you'll be too far back. I don't like general admission shows b/c I'm a 98 WHer so I'm totally spoiled (you are all rolling your eyes now!). I'm just saying it would be nice if the 1 time since 99 they play here a long-time fan could get a seat close to the stage, but seriously I am totally excited for this show even if it is GA!! I'll just have to get there early and make my way up front. Hopefully I'll get to meet and party with some of you. If anyone needs info about Charleston let me know!

From going to baseball games I feel like it won't be too strict on tailgating, I have a feeling with the boats on the water, and people hanging out tailgating in the park for the show, it will be impossible to stop the atmosphere from building.
