dmbreleases.com is back online

www.dmbreleases.com returns

After a couple of years, the most comprehensive and detailed discography site is now online again.

www.dmbreleases.com offers lists, pictures and detailed information on most of the Dave Matthews Band recordings that has ever been released on for example CD, vinyl and cassette - both radio promos, singles and in store samplers, plus a lot of other pressings.

If you love to browse through beautiful, rare DMB artwork, read about their backstory or rarity, and if you have an interest in various releases to add to your own collection, this is the place to go for all necessary information.

The work to find all the releases is quite extensive, and demands many hours of research. If you have information about a release which is not on the site, please contact us at dmbreleases@hotmail.com

Thank you for your help - and enjoy the super nerdy website 😊

You can find us on facebook and instagram for updates on new additions to the site, and short stories about some of the rarest or most interesting promos and singles.

Did you for example know about the very first CD released by the band - the Bama 001? - OR the very beautiful Recently Pumpkin (Bama 002)? You can read all about on the site

Could you throw up Live In Atlantic City artwork that has the date of the show within the artwork? The actual CDs digipak has it but most online artworks for the show don't. I've had trouble locating one that is of sufficient size and resolution.

"Remember Two Things: Love your mother, and leave only your footprints..."

You all know DMB’s debut album, but did you know that the band released the album on their own label, Bama Rags, with catalogue number Bama 001 back in 1993? The band actually released three albums on Bama Rags - this version of Remember Two Things, (Pumpkin) Recently and the regular Recently - before being signed by an official record label, releasing UTTAD in 1994.

There is no difference between this, the Bama 001, and the later released (1997) version of the same CD. But to the DMB collector/completionist there is something quite special about owning this, the band’s very first release. The Bama 001 CD does not pop up very frequently on trading sites, but can still be purchased at a reasonable price when it does. This is your chance to own a very special part of DMB history.

The cover has a quite special feature; it is a stereogram, and if you look “through” the dots on the artwork, you might suddenly be able to see a hand making a peace sign; so remember two things when you listen to the record: “Love your mother, and leave only your footprints”.

Many of the songs on the album are recorded live in studio, showcasing excactly what the band does best: playing and toying with their songs live, which, to many, has been the band’s strength since 1993.

This record is so good because of many things, but perhaps mostly because you get to hear how the band sounded in the early days and, making it an important piece of DMB history.

That peace sign continues to elude me, has not popped out at me once..

Thanks for all the kind words, guys. I’m far from alone in working on this project.
Torben Thorhauge and Carson31 from these boards are working just as hard - and we’ve had help from numerous people throughout the years - plus; the old discography website (www.dmbdiscography.com) was a great inspiration, but it closed down several years ago after not being updated for a long time.

    Re: dmbreleases.com is back online

Next in line of CD releases from the band is “The Pumpkin Recently” - it is the second release by the band, and the catalogue number is Bama 002. This is by far the most well known - and perhaps most wanted - of all the DMB promos out there. It was handed out to radio stations, and sold to fans, back in 1993, and considered the Holy Grail of DMB promos.

It is practically impossible to get your hands on, although there tends to be one for sale on ebay with a high priced “buy it now” option now and then. Perhaps you should just go ahead and buy that without thinking too much about it

The cover is different from the regular Recently EP - this one shows a man holding a pumpkin, even though “Halloween” is absent from the tracklist. Instead, “Halloween” can be found on the regular Recently EP

    Good luck finding your copy.

    Tracklist:

    1. Recently (Radio edit)
    2. Ants Marching (Radio Edit)
    3. Tripping Billies
    4. The Song That Janes Likes

Fun fact: the management tried to get a perfect scan of the Pumpkin front cover for the vinyl release, but we did not have The Recently Pumpkin at that time, so we could not help. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why the vinyl release is a small 10” version

    http://dmbreleases.com/?cpt_discogra...thing-us-promo

The next single from the band was Jimi Thing. Although not a huge radio hit, the song is definitely a perfect live song. Especially if it features a guest; worthy of mention here are Warren Haynes, Trey Anastasio, Victor Wooten, Eric Krasno and David Ryan Harris. As of today the band/DM/D&T has played the song live on 1101 occasions. (dmbalmanac.com)
The Jimi Thing single is very hard to find - it almost never appears on any trading sites. But, if it does, it will easily cost you between 120-200 USD. If you find it for sale, the chances that it is from a seller who knows its value are very high. Sadly, there are so few of these around.

Tracklist: Jimi Thing (Radio Edit), All Along the Watchtower, Christmas Song and Jimi Thing in full length. All versions can be found on studioalbums/R2T - the reason you want this badly is because of its amazing artwork, not the tracklist.
Happy hunting... or do you already own it?
    Post your pictures here

Hey Zack - Thanks! Yes we are excited that we have a working homepage again. But as you can see, we are so many years behind, that we still have tons of work ahead of us.

...and I am back at buying promos again 😎 They are becoming harder and harder to find

That sounds great - We are currently just slowly posting vinyl releases and some of the compilation albums. Plus re-scanning some old promos with better resolution.

Do you have some of the newer stuff from after 2009?

I think I have all of those lol. The issue with selling these off of ebay is knowing remotely what their value is ... Typical Situation promo, for instance, being only one of 150 made... how do you even put a tag on that? There aren't historical references on ebay either, since they are so infrequently sold.

The thing is also, the market is kind of dead... I get the feeling that I am the only one buying stuff on eBay.

Many of the listings just never get sold, and they get relisted instead

I have all the vinyl releases, some of which are absent from the site - let me know if you need some photos/details
