Are you aware why Boyd was let go? Or even how he was sounding on the violin in his last years with the band? Trust me, I love the violin sound too, but I don’t see how letting go of an alleged sexual predator was a stupid decision

1. Everyone acts like Boyd was bringing the band down so much, yet I see many more posts about people not going to as many/any shows now, than when he was in the band. (I realize for many, this is due to their redundant song choices, but some have been due to sound.) I think most would agree that dmb with a violin (even with a struggling Boyd) sounds better.

2. None of us really know about these alleged acts. Not to mention all of these alleged acts, sans one, are not criminal, just weird af, which is a pretty common description of Boyd. Just looking at some of the ig posts and text exchanges, it's pretty likely those two had some sort of consensual relationship at some point.

Regardless, I won't say it wasn't a stupid decision, but I wouldn't say it was either. Only the band/Boyd truly know.
I agree, nobody knows except for the band. I’m sure that Dave wouldn’t have let go of a 25 year, fan favorite, staple of their band without a good reason

Doing the Camden run and that’s it, I’ll see a show in Philly if they come. Though with no violin no need to spend more money. I’m glad I got gorge and spac outta the way when they had a violin because no way I’m spending all that money with no violin. Ticket prices have went up and I’d rather spread my money out and see other bands then see all dmb with no violin. The Philly show in the winter was good but there’s no need anymore to do more then 2 shows.

I'll buy your ATL pits if you don't go. I'll most likely not do SPAC after how I felt last night, but I would like to at least get up close for the hometown show.

The band actually played better sets when they had Boyd whom they were trying to mute and play over. That's some crazy shit.

    He's not coming back

    1. Dave is too stubborn for any violin to come back period
    2. The entire band was sick of his errors and lack of focus (which won't change if he comes back)
    3. They literally weren't showing his photo dating back to the fall of 2017 with the 2018 calendar

Hell they are more willing to play songs like You Never Know, Kill The King, Break Free, JTR (first time out of the eastern time zone since 2006 this year) than add a fiddle.

Relax, we're just saying we'd support his return, I don't think anyone is actually thinking its going to happen. And there is a possibility, no matter how unlikely

The DMB sound includes a violin. It's that simple.

for real.... doesn't reaching a settlement usually mean "yeah I did something bad, but I really don't want to drag this out in court, here's some money to go away"?

According to the case docket, a notice of settlement was filed yesterday. So the case was not “thrown out.” It ended because the parties agreed on settlement terms.

I've always thought that sometimes the defendant may not want to go through the court battle just to get their name further dragged through the dirt. Most times people will just remember that a person was accused of something nefarious and not whether they were actually found guilty. And ultimately they are forever associated with the incident.

I'm not defending Boyd, this is my take how on settling out of court may pan out in any circumstance.

Even if you're innocent, your lawyer may suggest settling or taking some sort of deal. It is entirely possible to be found guilty in this type of situation, even with a lack of evidence. It can be pretty tough to prove that you were in a mutual relationship with somebody who is claiming otherwise

Feel like we saw this with the NFL and Kaepernick/Eric Reid. The settlement was so small compared to the damages they were seeking that it was likely just a "let's end this before it even begins" settlement.

Not saying anything about Boyd's situation here because I wasn't there and I don't know what happened. But a settlement does not always equal guilt.

In my opinion, there’s really not much to glean from this. The settlement terms are likely confidential. Could have been for $1, could have been for $1,000,000. If one or both of them issues a press release, maybe we’ll find out more. But considering the vast majority of cases end in pre-trial settlement, this really doesn’t tell us much.
