I read today that NY and a few other states came out and put a mandatory quarantine order for anyone returning from states with high spikes in cases.

What happens if I travel to one of these states to visit a relative over the weekend?

Am I not supposed to go to work on Monday when I get back?

What does this mean for employers?

They certainly can't tell me that I have to come into work or that I cannot make that visit to that state. Just curious how this is handled.

It's an honor system.

The effect of the order may be largely symbolic. Even in places where out-of-state arrivals are already formally required to quarantine, there has not been widespread enforcement to make sure the rules were being followed.

If you can work from quarantine you can work. If work requires you to leave your quarantine you cannot.

We still have some friends and family planning on going to FLA next weekend. I’m expecting to have some sort of quarantine in place here by the time they’l get back.

Unpopular opinion, but DeSantis seems fine to me. Sound bites turned into headlines are bad, but his press conferences are well put together. Seems like he’s relying on doctors instead bureaucrats and academics to make Coronavirus policy.

My company informed us last week of their 'Return to the Office' plan. I don't go back until Aug 17, which is nice. If we happen to travel by plane for personal reasons we have to self-quarantine for 10 days upon arrival. Since they are making us return to the office and are being morons about continuing to let people work from home, I am going to be 'flying' a few times over the next couple months. I like working from home.

I can do very little work from home. That is why we got called back relatively early (May 4th) to return to the office.

Does that mean basically tough luck for my employer?

Can they take action or sick time away from me for having to quarantine?
