Re: *Star Wars Conversation*

I've definitely found it hard to get into the animation. Have heard good things about Clone Wars beyond Season 1 and Rebels but I haven't quite been able to push through Clone Wars Season 1 to get to what I hear is good, I just find it a slog.

I like Clone Wars a lot, and even I considered it a slog to get through Season 1. Not sure if that helps or not, but it's rewarding if you can get to Seasons 2 & 3.

I've heard that from many people which is the only reason I'm attempting it, I'm just getting there very slowly because I prioritize basically anything else I'm watching over it. I think I started 3 months ago and am through like 13 episodes

All too familiar. I was like 15ish episodes in and like "how the fuck are there 7 fucking seasons of this?!?"

So Andor is going to end up being the best of all these shows and it doesn’t have it’s own thread???

Really enjoyed episode 4 of Andor. Best one so far. But where are the crazy aliens we've grown accustomed to seeing in the Star Wars universe?

Taken me like 13 years hahaha. I know there’s some essential order you can do that will skip a bunch of season 1 stuff, but any time I try to muscle through I get stuck. I’ve seen the same 5 or 6 episodes so many time hahaha

I can't remember from where and it may have been before things got recannonized but I seem to recall a big thing was the Emperor despised nonhuman races.

In a series based on infiltrating the Empire it might not make much sense to have Max Rebo beebopping and scatting all over the place in the party.

    Definitely into this one.

i'm not really sold on anything after the empire falling, but that's largely due to the fact that we have an ending, and its just...not that satisfying.

Everything happening in Rebels as this show is taking place is just some of the best Star Wars that exists, so i feel like I'm just immediately attached to this.

Even though we know he's going to get out of every conflict unscathed here, you can sense the overall dread of what's happening, and the stakes growing higher.

They have done such a good job of showing the burden that he's carrying and the risks that he's facing. His opponents are developed and not just faceless, expendable Stormtroopers. They are getting the little details that matter right about this series and it makes all the difference in the world.

This is a great interview with Tony Gilroy, the co-creator/writer for Andor. A lot of insight into how the show came into being (lots of industry background) and what was needed to make it a success as well as why it's so different from other Star Wars stories.

Andor should have been released all at once.

It’s fucking spectacular BUT… some of these episodes have nothing really happening. Most shows have an arc within an episode. Not here. I feel like there has to be a massive payoff at the end.

I loved this weeks episode. Getting a deeper dive into the characters and what's driving them and their choices. The fact that the rebellion is just teetering on success or failure and the slightest little thing can tip the scales; it plays out so well in this series.

I can't put my finger on why I love this series so much because it is the most un-Star Wars thing I've ever seen, but I definitely want more.

I don't know, if you watch him on the ship saying they 'need to see the dr' it seems like weak acting on the characters part. As in he didn't seem as impassioned as he should have been to fight Vel in that moment.

I totally thought it was a test almost as soon as he started talking. Was it in fact a test and Andor rushed to judgment?

Given how closely knit that insurgent team was and how resistant they were to adding Andor to the team, I was under the impression that they were all well vetted and loyal to the cause. So that's why I thought it was a test right away.

I dunno, he took it pretty far for a test. Cassian deflected two or three times. At a certain point you relent before getting killed.

I can also see this being a pattern of Cassian jumping the gun and disposing of problems via the trigger; ultimately learning his lesson towards the end with Galen Erso.

Agree! I almost like these episodes more than the action ones. Also loved the music at the end, gave me a real dystopian/clockwork orange/Kubrick kind of vibe.

I feel like I'm the only one watching this show. I've seen the memes joking about it but among my friends and family no one else is watching. It's weird.
