He chose to play a terrible closer then and now with about 150+ options to pick from

I was at this show and it caused me to step away from the band for 5+ years. 2022 is a dream compared to some of those stand up era sets.

Dave did look very rattled after SAWG at Deer Creek. I watched it again a few days ago and it looks like Carter was TBD and Dave got a “no” signal when he looked offstage after SAWG. But there were so many better options for a potential encore closer if he knew that Carter was just a maybe to come back out.

Man, to think a show with a PNP>Rapunzel opener, Pig, ABI, Bartender, Nancies, and Christmas Song E1 could be considered the worst setlist ever...2005 was a different time.

Everyday was closing a lot of sets around then. Would be a bummer now but then was nothing of the ordinary.

Just finally got to hear tonight’s show. First time hearing the band do Fool in the Rain. I liked it, but…

O.A.R’s version Fool in the Rain w/ Robert Randolph blows that away in every conceivable way.

Wow. I'd take this right now no problem for some diversity. Looks like a blast. At the time I guess it was super frustrating, like us getting 6 Come Tomorrow songs or something in a show now.

The songs you list are great, but I'd argue some are/were pretty standard... pnp>rapunzel has been super over exposed until this tour, nancies is quite common. So yeah the set had abi, pig, bartender, and Christmas song. The rest was standard with a HUGE contingent of utter crap. Plus Too Much and Everyday as closers? No thank you lol.

I guess it just highlights that when you have a band that rotates 50 songs or so, there will be crap setlists in any era. And we all perceive it differently.

Carter on literally everything last night… might even say it’s the most alive I’ve heard him since 2017. Be brought back so many classic Carter films that I felt were missing for a while. Not a drummer so can’t get too technical, but his double kick work & the hertas and singles he played last night were crazy all over.

I’m relistening right now and noticed a few small things. Dave finally started strumming through the Funny verses again without stopping which is how he used to play it when Boyd was here. Doesn’t sound as empty anymore.

Not talking about playing in general though. I’m talking about him continuing his strumming smoothly rather than playing the hits with the rest of the band. Last tour he was strumming the staccato hits the rest of the band plays, so there was dead space in the verses that made it feel musically empty (because Boyd and Dave were usually playing over that part).

Only show I've ever been to where I thought, "that was a waste of time". I got my first and only #40 though, cool I guess? 90 seconds doesn't make up for the rest of it though.
