How has CT aged for y’all?

For me, I am just now fully coming around to it. Away from the World had a similar type of effect on me. Feels a bit like the band coasted through it, but still an enjoyable listen that has grown and continues to grow on me. What about y’all?

It's forgettable and the songs are in the wrong order. I never listen to it. The only good thing I can say about it is that a lot of the songs sound better on the album than they do live.

You mean the songs are better live than on the album?

I put CT in it's proper perspective, which helps with liking it. Those who don't look at it from the perspective that it's a 30+/- year old band are just in denial when they compare it to the big 3/4.

I haven't spent much time focusing on the developments surrounding the new album (Rashawn's recent IG of Haunted Hollow makes it sound like something's coming soon), but I'm very interested to see what they've cooked up. It'll certainly make or break whether I attend any shows next year.

Most of the album doesn't translate well live. The songs that do translate well are hardly played.

    Best Live songs

    1. Virginia in the Rain (full band specifically)
    2. Idea of You
    3. Black and Bluebird
    4. Again and Again

Come on Come on is on the cusp of the 4 that do it was beautiful live but i think i would get sick of it if it was played often in a tour
Here on out is the last one out beautiful song may use it for my future wedding but live it got old when it was highly played

The rest of the songs i could easily go without live especially come tomorrow and she absolute trash live

I really like this album. And with time, the producing has begun to feel far more cohesive. Playing the songs less live has helped too. Gave me the chance to step away for a bit and realize how much I like songs like She

Think about if you were drunk and eating a bowl of cereal in bed. You didn't finish it, and just put it in a nightstand drawer. Then think about if you forgot about it for like, six months, then found it.
    About like that.

Actually, that's not quite right. The cereal was probably at least good when you first consumed it.

Not a fan. It’s a terribly produced album and it doesn’t translate well at all.

Can’t stop, do you remember, and come tomorrow are atrocious and are the equivalent of BW songs Shake meh, FTWII, and You and me. Dave will play these 6 forever and they all suck. Shame.

Re: How has CT aged for y’all?

Virginia In the Rain is still one of my favorite things they've ever done. It's absolutely brilliant and I'm grateful to have that song captured forever in such a beautiful way.

I also love the studio version of Again and Again - that one turned out so well.

There are a handful of other songs that I still really dig, too. Black and Bluebird, She (the production on this is terrific), Idea Of You, Here On Out, bkdkdkdd, and Samurai Cop come to mind. Wish B&BB was not cut short and that it didn't immediately transition into the sound of a siren (why?!), as that would have been SUCH a great studio song with a 1-2 minute jam at the end.

Do You Remember, Come Tomorrow, Come On Come On, When I'm Weary and Can't Stop are songs I'm generally fine with and can find at least one or two musical elements that I enjoy, but not songs that I ever specifically seek out to hear on their own.

That Girl is You could have been awesome if Dave really locked in a great vocal, but the studio version is pretty jarring to me. I get that he was going for a one vocal take type of feel, but I think that turned out to be a missed opportunity. Feels a little sloppy and lackluster as a result. Much better song in a live environment, for sure.

Overall: If I had to give this album a grade after a few years with it, I'd say B- / C+.

I come back to it only for VITR and DYR.

I am still severely pissed off about B&BB 3+ years later. Thankful for LT 36. The difference between the song at that show and what they recorded for the album might be the most mind-boggling thing the band has ever done to a song from road to studio.

Honestly don't think I've listened to it since the day it came out so I can't say it's aged at all. My opinion off "nope, we're done" has remained.

Virginia In the Rain and Again & Again are good songs. The rest to me is very forgettable. I don't absolutely hate the album, I listen to it on vinyl once in a while. I'd say I'm indifferent to it after 3+ years. TGIY is the worst song they've ever made however

I spied at least 4 unopened copies in my cabinet a few days ago and thought, yeah right, that's how CT made that "top selling" record again. ...what a scam mgt prepetrated. I'm sure they are totally impossible to sell on eBay.

After 3 years have passed and the shine has worn off, I still find it to be an enjoyable album. I love a lot of the material, but there’s a few tracks I don’t care for. I think this album had potential to be great, but it was overthought. If they had stuck with one producer (Cavallo) from start to finish, I think the fan base would view this album much differently.

I hope the upcoming album doesn’t suffer the same fate of overthinking.

It's interesting to me how this album has made an impact on me unlike others. Being that I am 26 and I only really got into the band in 2013, CT was the first "new" music that the band put out since I'd been a fan. Right away, I was excited to hear something fresh. The songs themselves don't move me in the way that others do (Stone, Last Stop, Dreaming Tree, YNK etc.) but the newness of the material has always made me remember 2018 and how excited I was. Also, CT is my mom's favorite album and its also my wife's favorite album (I kind of converted them to be DMB fans, big win there). The album reminds me of the joy both of them get from listening to it. So, while Cant Stop and Come On Come On and She aren't anywhere near the top of my list, I can still listen to them and smile every time.

Also, Virginia In The Rain is one of my favorite songs the band has done, top 20 in my book for sure.

To me the thing about come tomorrow is compared to away from the world in studio and live the lowest of lows from come tomorrow are much worse than the lows from AFTW. She, TGIY, and Come Tomorrow are just to be bad tracks that have crappy songwriting and limited replay value live or in studio. I still love Virginia in the Rain and Black and Bluebird but those are hardly even played full band.

It's fine, I listen to some of the songs now and then.
I think about half are really good and the others are pretty forgettable.
I really feel like the piecemeal production did it no favors though, no cohesiveness.

Somehow this album made Idea of You worse, because I used to listen to that song all of the time and now I barely listen because that studio version is so disappointing. And somehow, the band sounds worse playing it live too, it just doesn't have that same power it used to.
