Re: Buffalo Wings

I will say though, while I am pro-boner, I see no real benefit to it on a steak. Except maybe gnawing on the bone after finishing that goddamn thing up.

Interesting that it's chicken because chicken on the bone is more foregiving than boneless chicken when it comes to drying out.

Love me a good burger though.

honestly I hadn't heard about that. I'm looking now, it looks like there were 2 separate recalls limited to one brand (Jennie-O) for possible salmonella....jesus christ Jennie get it together!

as far as turkey vs beef, I'm pretty sure turkey is considerably healthier overall than red meat. just as long as said turkey isn't contaminated with salmonella

Maybe I'm 100% off base with this but I don't think red meat is nearly as bad (if not fine) for you as some reports from years ago. I think it's more that people like red meat with a higher fat content than other meats.

no, I think you are right on that. leaner red meat is definitely considerably healthier. I always try to shoot for like 96/4 when I eat red meat.

That's pretty lean. How do you order steaks/burgers? (Rare, m-rare...)

medium well. I like a nice light pink in the center.

obviously when I'm out at a restaurant, I'm sure the meat they use is much less lean. I just buy lean when I'm cooking meals during the week to be healthier.

Lean and med well is a tall order for me. I can do lean meats but I typically like them pretty rare. To each their own!

I have one, but have never cooked wings in it. I mainly have used it for fries, which turn out pretty good. Obviously not as good as deep fried, but better than baked.

I swear by my deep fryer, using 100% peanut oil to fry with.

Fries and wings and sometimes also homemade beer battered onion rings when I'm making burgs, pretty much it for my fryer and I'm okay with that.

I saw The Black Widow (in Buffalo in set the world record for most wings in 12 mins, she ate 183 wings or 6.4lbs.

SIX and a half POUNDS!!! In 12 minutes!!

Patrick "Deep Dish" Bartoletti and Eric "Badlands" Booker were both there, that's four major stars. (and it's the only competitive eating event I've ever attended, it WAS fucking gross to watch)

Joey Chestnut beat it the next year with 191 and that remains the record now for six years.

It’s easy with hot dogs but how do they judge whether they have eaten the entire wing for credit?

Seems like there could be some controversy when meat is left behind.

I’m pretty sure they weigh the trays before and after to determine the weight eaten if I recall correctly

I love mine as well, also strictly peanut oil. Some favorites I try to do somewhat monthly include fish & chips, poutine, fried pickles, fried cauliflower, and usually some fresh seafood (did some calamari last week that was delish).

Got about 4 dozen wings im gonna fry up tomorrow...always do a hot buffalo, a sweet bbq, and thinking of doing either Hawaiian teriyaki or Jamaican jerk as well.
