I could get by with 64GB. I get a TB of Google Drive space with my Fiber plan, so I've moved backing up my pics there; with Google Photos, there's no real need to keep the pics/videos on my phone. I have a shared Apple Music plan, so I could also greatly reduce the amount of music stored on my phone.

I upgrade every 2 years. This is an upgrade year for me. I will probably go with the standard 11.

really? I thought I would originally but I love the swipe up. feels so much more natural. my dad has an older one and anytime I do something on his, the home button just feels so clunky.

I don’t miss the home button for navigating the phone, but I do miss fingerprint ID.

FaceId much better on this phone than last one though.

I mean, it's still a nice screen, I've moved from an SE to an 8 (company dictates the model unfortunately) and the missus has an XR and they are both very acceptable displays...but the OLED looks so much better in a dark room (lying in bed type of thing).

LCD can do HDR so it's surprising the regular 11 does not offer it. I'd be all over the 11 Pro if I didn't have a free work phone.

I'm in the exact same boat as you!

I might actually keep the 6S for a while longer, the battery is at like 81% of its max capacity though. Plus the charging port is all jacked up and it takes an act of Congress to get it to start charging when I plug the Lightning cable in.

I am on the Apple/iPhone Upgrade Program and this is the main reason I won't step down from what is now the Pro. I can very clear see the difference between oled and lcd. The cameras don't do much for me...I'm not a professional photographer. The camera on the 11 would be more than enough for me.

Since I'm already part of the upgrade program, it makes sense for me to upgrade (new phone for the same amount i'm currently paying). This year I've decided to at least switch it up a bit and go to the larger screen model (11 Pro Max). I've had the larger screen once before (generation before the X) and I remember it being very big, an annoyance at times, but also worth while at other times. The 5 hours extra battery life is also huge for me (it will actually be a 6 or 7 hour bump for me since the smaller screen XS that I currently have already gets a bit less battery than the XS Max). That's a pretty good improvement.

Hopefully I don't regret going up in screen size. Sticking with the space grey because I can't find a video or picture online accurately depicting the green color (I can barely tell the difference between the space grey and green on the pro models in the pics on Apple's website).

Ordered a couple of 11 pro's last night. Switching from AT&T to Verizon in the process. With the trade-ins, rebates, etc. I'll end up saving a couple of bucks a month and go from 30gb to unlimited. Tried getting AT&T to match... they told me to wait until the end of the month. no thanks.

I find that I'm not the least bit excited to receive my new pro max. Part of it may just be that I was more into having the latest and greatest gadget when I was younger, but I think the biggest factor is that this phone really isn't any different from the past model. No features that I'm really excited about.

improved battery life looks like one of the biggest draws to me, and I feel like it's a super sneaky underrated feature to have that isn't flashy. I'm sure you will enjoy that at least!

I wouldn’t be rushing for iOS 13. iOS 13.1 comes out tomorrow, and will (hopefully) squash a lot of these silly bugs that have been plaguing the early adopters

And you most likely won’t. I’ve been running the beta for months now and have only had random issues here or there, but nothing like what the tech blogs have been reporting on

Question for the thread: Apple has multiple options when it comes to paying for a phone. Pay fully/outright, pay in monthly installments, pay/sign up for the Upgrade program. Is this correct, or are 2 and 3 essentially the same thing?

Also with any of these options, are you technically leasing the phone? Or is it actually purchased as yours?

2 and 3 are different things. 2, you just pay off the cost of the phone monthly.

3, they run a credit check then the bank apple works with (I think Citizen) gives you a loan in the amount of the phone and you make monthly payments. After 12 payments you are able to trade in your phone and get a new one at which time the old loan for the old phone will be closed out and you'll begin paying the new loan off. The intention of this is to allow those who want the newest iphone every year to be able to trade in their current phone to get it. It's very similar to a car lease.

There is no loan in option 2, as far as I know. And you don't have the option to trade in your phone (until you pay it off completely). Additionally, option 3 has Applecare included.

You own the phone with the upgrade program. The difference is that halfway through the two year loan, you can trade it in for the new phone and start a new two year loan. If you don't do that, and just pay off the balance over the course of the two yeas, it's yours.

No, you don't. The upgrade program is just like a car lease. You're making monthly payments and after a year can trade it in for a new phone. In order to sell the phone you'd have to outright buy it and then sell it.

Well I think one is saying you own it right away and the other is saying you lease until you're paid off, then its yours?

It's not like leasing a car, it's like buying a car. With the upgrade program, you take out a loan for the full amount of the phone, same as when you buy a car. You can sell the phone or the car on day one, but you'd still owe the remaining balance on the loan. Once you pay off the loan, you own the phone/car outright.
