THE WEST WING Trivia

I'm surprised it took me this long to think to do this. Let's hope this fairs better than my DIE HARD trivia thread.

To begin...

In the special standalone post-9/11 show "Isaac & Ishmael" that aired a week before the season 3 premiere, in the very end Leo goes up to the guy the Secret Service were questioning and apologizes to him, he says this particular line as he's walking away, it's the very last line of dialogue in the whole episode, before "For What It's Worth" starts to play. What was it that Leo said to the guy?

As a special note there's something I just picked up on it. The young kid in the front of the crowd of students that the staffers are talking with in the Mess, the one kinda nerdy kid that Josh picks out as being annoying and asking too many questions (he calls him "Fred" as a dig), I'm 99.9% sure that it's the same actor as in the season 1 episode of HOUSE called "Three Stories" where House has to give an impromptu lesson to a bunch of med students on diagnostics, and this kid at the very beginning asks House an annoying type question and House says "I'm not gonna like you, am I?" I'm almost positive it's the same exact actor, it just cracks me up because it's basically the same type of scenario.

Very last line of dialogue? Yikes. Without googling or pulling out the DVD, I'm having a hard time coming up with it. I know he said "Way to be back at your desk, kid" at some point. And he clarifies what he said earlier with "that's the price you pay...". Am I close?

Shoulda figured you'd be the first one in one this

And yes you're right, even though you're answering more than you have to. He does explain the "That's the price you pay" remark, but the very last thing he says to the guy (& the specific answer I was looking for) is indeed "Hey kid, way to be back at your desk".

So feel free to throw out another question.

Wow... I know a little too much about this show

Ok, here's one. Season 2 finale -- "Two Cathedrals." If you watched the commentary, you'll know the answer. The episode seemed to be a cliffhanger as to whether or not Bartlet would run again. But Aaron Sorkin says the answer (that he would run again) was actually "telegraphed" in the episode. What let the (very astute) viewer know that he had already made up his mind?

Hmm well I know I definitely did listen to the commentary track on that episode, but I don't really remember anything particular of what he said. But frankly you don't need anything Sorkin may've told you necessarily to comprehend what the show itself was saying. In fact Mrs. Landingham in the flashback said exactly what the thing was, so we're talking about a quality set up and payoff, merely a staple of good writing, something we've come to expect of Aaron Sorkin. ANYWAY, as Dolores pointed out when he was a youngster at school, Jed sticks his hands in his pockets, looks off into the distance and smiles -- that's how you know he's made up his mind on something. And that's exactly the action that he did as the last thing you see in the 2nd season finale.

Man, it'd really be nice if it was more than just you and me in this thing

yep, that's it... I don't think I picked up on it at the time. Probably forgot about the setup of it...

We do need some other people to get involved on this one. What if we open it up to series crossover trivia?

Sorry I'm not sure I'm following... series crossover? You mean like trivia for all of TV in general?

I meant Sorkin series crossover... SN-TWW connections and such. Maybe S60 too, but there's less material there. TWW would of course be the primary thing. I have one such question in mind already...

Okay I see what you're saying. Well shit maybe let's just do an all-inclusive Aaron Sorkin trivia thread, including movies THE AMERICAN PRESIDENT and A FEW GOOD MEN. So basically anything he's been involved in. Sure why not.

Ok, here's one. What SN and TWW characters, played by the same guest actor, caused problems for main characters of the show? There is one pair in particular that I'm thinking of, I don't think there are others, but I could be wrong.

Hmm so are you saying it was not only played by the same actor, it was literally the same character even, in both the SN and TWW universes?

Although even still, I suppose we're not yet doing too good a job of expanding this into getting anymore than just you or I to play

Same actor, different characters, equally troublesome!

Man, too bad this one died.

Pretty sure Josh drinks from the keg of glory, and I know he asks for bagels. I think the other one was muffins? I'm not sure it was though.

One of the most comedic lines of the whole show.

If we're talking best comedic moment in the show, I'm going to have to ask you who was presented with the Francis Scott Key Key that made C.J. uncontrollably laugh?

    THE WEST WING Trivia

What is the first and last name of the person Debbie was being pressured to hire for Personal Aide To The President before she found Charlie, who was pressuring Debbie to do so, and what ultimately was the end result for not succumbing to the pressure?

I know she was fired for hiring Charlie. No way I can come up with the name of who was pressuring her. I think it was to hire his son. Partial credit?

I’ll give ya the partial, everything here is correct.

Can anybody help out and come up with the first and last name of both the candidate and the person who was pressuring Debbie (the candidate’s father).
