Re: Official Phish Discussion

Would love to see a comprehensive article or even compilation of the best 3.0 jams since 2015

I don't really stream shows because life happens so I feel like I miss a ton of jams

Early rumor that TAB may be playing Beale Street Music Festival 2020. They're one of the listed bands on the poll of potential 2020 bands.

I heard the poll lost to Billy Strings . Not that I don't love Billy Strings, but makes you wonder if that might explain a bit as to why Phish hasn't been back. The jam scene doesn't seem to have much traction in Memphis.

I remember when Gordo played a solo gig at Minglewood in 09. There was NO ONE there. The place was so empty they had to curtain off part of the room so it felt like more people were there than actually was. I talked to a guy who works there a few months ago and he said it was about 400 people. I laughed and said he was lying. It couldn't have been more than half that.

That said, I think if Phish came to Memphis it'd be different. Panic always does well when they play in town. DMB sells out super fast.

This is a strange city. For a place that has such a strong history/love of music, people rarely go to shows. It seems like concerts are more of a special occasion kinda thing for a lot of people here. Been kind of a tough pill to swallow after being in Portland, where every band comes through at least once a year. I probably went to 3+ shows per week.

What chances we did have for getting shows here are now being eliminated by Nashville taking off. I have yet to sleep in my own bed after a Phish show.

Nashville is killing us. Everyone goes through there now. It's nice that I can be so close to a city that gets the shows but damn, they skip Memphis all the time now. What's even weirder is Little Rock getting shows instead of us. They're definitely playing LR instead since Nashville/Memphis are so geographically close. All the LR shows undersell like crazy. Every show I go to there is half full after discounting tickets.

On the subject of Memphis, I have been once and had a blast. Went for a fraternity convention and stayed at the Peabody and got into all the bars on Beale Street at 20. Is Silky O'Sullivan's still around? At some point, I'll be visiting Nashville as my father is on the heart transplant list and it will be done at Vanderbilt.

    Have we met before?

Silky's is still there. They've got goats in a playground on the patio, and (WSMule can correct me if I'm wrong) they used to paint them and feed them beer. Animal right activists stepped in though, and did away with the painting and beer feeding. They do still serve the diver buckets.

Good luck with your dad's transplant. Hoping your visit will include a celebration on Broadway.

Gamma Chi chapter, Oklahoma State, the 1868 is hopefully a good giveaway. Went to the PLC/Rush convention as Rush Chairman in Jan. 2001. The diver buckets were what I was wanting to know about the most. I got fucked up on just one of those.

And thanks, I hope many celebrations are in order when he finally gets the help he needs.

Will likely not make MSG this year. Fucking sucks because I was really looking forward to it more then about anything else, but life got in the way.

This seems way small for Phish... if this is correct, maybe it's a replacement for the rumored Apollo show for Sirius/XM?
