Doesn't mean the band doesn't bring good shows - they really do - but it can be jarring to East Coasters who are used to Hartford/Camden/SPAC crowds.
When they played Home Depot Center, now Stub Hub Center I think, I was spoiled by the WH and was always in that front section, directly in front of the stage and would just see everyone sitting down watching the show behind that. In 08, when they played Hollywood Bowl, N2 I was behind the garden boxes in the bleachers and just about everyone around us was sitting down. The two people I was with we just stood and danced the whole show anyway. People told us to sit down and we were like 'sorry, this is our show too. And we want to dance and enjoy the show.'

I had good experiences at every Home Depot show (did '04-'05) but, like you, I was in the first 20 rows for all of those shows thanks to the WH.

Bottom line is that So-Cal is just more relaxed and the crowds reflect that. But I wen to Hartford on 07/11/14 - pretty forgettable show in the middle of a tour - and the crowd was going nuts. There are just better crowds back East.

Instants came and went in a flash, but was able to score a pair in the $85 range. Keeping my fingers crossed that they are not Loge 4 or 8, but would not be surprised if that is where I end up. Regardless, fired up to be able to get in a least one more show this summer. Just need to score some pits for Chula and I am set for the summer.

I was able to grab $85. So these are sections 1-3? Was unfamiliar with different breakdown of prices for seats. For some reason thought the only difference was between seats, pit and lawn. Happy to just have seats for now!

I placed my order at 2:04 EDT, so 11:04 PDT. Did you place yours right away? When I first looked for Irvine, I only saw Premium Packages, so tried for Chula pits, got denied on those. When I went back to see about Irvine I saw the reserved $85's and scored those.

I had to look back on what sections $85 were in because I recalled the discussion here when confirmations went out as to what price point was for what section. Bottom line, I am below the Terrace, that was goal 1. Now just hoping to not be too far outside. If I am in Loge 4 or 8 but towards the inside, that is fine. Just don't want outside of those two sections.

I tried for the premium but after I got all my information in and submitted it said that selection was no longer available.

Whoa! What are the chances that our back to back posts would put at the same exact post count on Ants?! That is a trip. Sorry just struck me and I had to share.

So true. It was so random and the fact that I even caught it was more shocking. Been around here a long time and never have seen that.

Chula had a nice drop earlier last week, still some decent stuff in the 200's left. But after watching for drops for SPAC, seems like there are less and less this year. SPAC N1 had one small drop, only a handful of pairs, and they were gone quick. Any N2 drops were on singles. Irvine has become almost like the SPAC of the west coast so just watch it like a hawk and grab what you can.

Head in early at Irvine. Atrocious lines start piling up. If you wait too long, you will miss the beginning of the show! 7:30 is usually too late to start heading in. It's just the poor planning of the venue.

It was mentioned in more detail in the Chula thread, but the walk from the gate to the venue is very long. Then you have to climb up to the Loge, Terrace and Lawn access points if that is where your seats are.

Everyone enters on house right of the venue so if your seats are house left, factor that in as well to move across the venue to get in your sections. One HUGE upside to house left seats in the Loge and Orch, there is a food and restroom area tucked below on this side of the venue. Unless you walk over to it, you miss it, as I don't recall a banner by the stairs advertising this area. Short lines for both food, drinks and restrooms, so keep that in mind for those needed bathroom break songs.

Being that this is the obligatory last stop at the venue, I believe a certain song should be in play...

As much as I would welcome unsaid song to be played, with this being only the second show after the break and last single night stand, I am curios to see how sharp they all are and what the break out. Dave may be 'feeling' other songs by this point so we could be in for some surprises too.

This is my hope. Could be in for some TDs that need a pressure test before the Gorge run.

I'm going into both of these shows with moderate expectations. Only way to do it after the SPAC weekend.

Hahah, this and the Chula post are making this quite the adventure. How far of a walk from the lots is it? Like a mile?

House left... does that mean sections 3, 8, 7? Currently slated to be sitting Loge 7.

Thinking about bringing my sticks with me... anyone have suggestions on golf around the Irvine area? Have only golfed once in California. It was the single coldest round I've every played... and I play in Turkey Shoots every year in the North East. 45 degrees in the pouring, wind-driven rain with no more than shorts and a pullover is not fun.

I'm going into both of these shows with moderate expectations. Only way to do it after the SPAC weekend.
After Hartford and SPAC, I am pretty happy with my tour shows so far. So what ever happens at Chula and Irvine will just be icing on the cake.

I was curious so I mapped it this morning. The walk from the gate to the edge of the amphitheater is about .25 miles. Maybe another 1/10 or 1/8 from one edge of the amphitheater to the other. The only x-factor would be the trek across the parking lot to the gate to add any extra milage to the walk.

In the case of Chula, you can park right next to the venue or just across a road at the top. The walk from the car to the pit can be 1/10 mile in the right areas. The longest walk you will have at Chula is if you park below or to the west of the venue.

I made this attachment years ago for Chula. The red area is where I like to park (the little blue square was the Ant meet up for that year), the yellow is a paved lot (used to be WH preferred) that is right next to the venue, green is below the venue but ok. The black square in the top right corner is where you want to stay out of at all costs. Parked there in 03 and it took me over an hour to out of the lot and on the freeway.
