I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that they just drop an album on us this month. I think they can sell as many “stocking-stuffer” albums in December as they can in promoting a (probably) reduced/unusual 2021 tour. Or, just release it digitally with proceeds to charity.
And I’ve always believed that they were sitting on a dark “twin” to CT, and holding back the BTCS vinyl (their other dark album) to coordinate release dates. CT is so full of “eat drink and be merry”, but strangely lacking in “for tomorrow we die” sentiment, which has always been the twin strands of DMB DNA. It definitely seems as if they purposely produced a bright, happy album and kept all the possible dark stuff for later. If true, I’m really looking forward to a mature Dave’s take on death and the darker things in life.

A new studio album would be amazing, but unless the band is really trying to keep this under wraps, I highly doubt this would happen. It took six years for the band to actually put out CT, and as has been said before, many of the tunes - Come On, Can't Stop, Sam Cop, etc. - had been either been road tested, previously worked on in the studio, or both - and yet it still took so long for them to put out that album.
Also, even though Dave and Carter have been working together at Haunted Hollow apparently, I don't know if the rest of the band came in and worked together, in one room. I also feel like Rashawn or Jeff or even Stefan would post little teases, a la Rashawn's sheet music posted for Time Bomb, and we saw a title or two via social media photos....
And even if they have all come together and made some music, worked out ideas, we know it takes a LONG time for the band to PUT OUT music, even though they may write and make music together quickly.
