Re: The Head and the Heart

Damn, 3.0 already. Always felt he was a secret weapon in the band.

EDIT: Jon must be a bitch to work with/for. A lot of supremely talented people are.

I think he likes Charity, he let her husband in the band.

I have a feeling that their next album is going to be more alt pop than their last one.

Night 2 of the Innings festival had Head and the Heart, Avetts, Decemberists and Lord Huron. That's madness.

According to this interview with Josiah he won't be on the next album. Sounds like they tried to get back together for the next album, but there were some creative differences so Josiah decided to do his own thing for the time being.

Question for you hardcore fans: Saw them for the first time this weekend, have followed their 1st 2 albums but didn't know anything about these original members leaving, etc.

    - What role did the 2 people who left have? I was listening this weekend and had no idea who Josiah was and what was different without him. Has his part in the harmonies been missing since then or something? And who's the guy that left this year? Can you notice it in the live shows?
    - Is there any backstory to Charity's weight gain? I wasn't sure if it was the same person compared to the person I remember seeing in press photos a few years back so I googled and sure enough, it's the same person.

The 2 new songs they played were pretty good. Also, lead singer comes off a little douchey on stage.

Somebody on the boards saw Charity in a candy store in Seattle. I like candy too, but maybe she is just a bigger girl. She is still incredibly talented no matter what her size.

Re: The Head and the Heart

Josiah wrote songs and sang lead on them, in addition to the harmonies he did on Jon's songs. He did the majority of the crowd interaction, while Jon just stands up there preening like an asshole. The show is much different without him. Brutal loss. They replaced him with Charity's husband, but Josiah is impossible to replace. Fake Josiah is meh.

Jon is apparently an asshole of legendary proportion. I can't say that's why the piano player left most recently, but that'd be my guess. I haven't seen them since he left, so I don't know if they've replaced him. If not, I can't imagine not noticing his absence. Piano is a pretty big part of their sound.

Charity had a baby recently-ish. She put on a bunch of weight during the pregnancy, then some more after.

Does anyone by chance have a download of the original 2011 mailing list release version of "No One to Let You Down" ? It used to be up on Youtube. It's a studio version. The song was later added to the movie Wish I Was Here's soundtrack in 2014. The soundtrack version uses the same stems as the 2011 studio version- but they overdubbed it with drums and additional harmonies and it sounds awful in comparison. But now that the soundtrack is an "official" release, it looks like all the 2011 studio versions were pulled from Youtube. The old version has to be floating out there somewhere- and it's one of my all time favorites from the band. thanks for your help!

Anyone else follow Josiah on Instagram? It seems he’s continuing to play a few shows here and there. I wonder if he’ll ever rejoin the band full-time again. It seems he pops up with them every now and then on tour the last couple years but only for a song or two.

Wow! I just looked her up. Can't believe how fat she has gotten. She used to be a dime piece. now... wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole.

4 new songs tomorrow. The previews they've been posting have me excited. They sound nice. I've been a bit wary on which direction this band was going to move to.

Have they confirmed four new songs or do we think it’s the whole album?

I've only seen "March 14th" at the end of each of the 4 videos. A whole album drop would be cool though.

Good for Jon though, finally getting to make this band his and his alone. Song is like a Justin Timberlake song, except it's not good.

I'm not all that big on Missed Connection either. Kind of funny how that song wasn't one of the previews, but I still think the previews sound good, so I'm not going to hate just yet.

Josiah has some stuff he's done on his website. It's good and has that old school Head and the Heart sound. It seems Josiah was the Heart in The Head and the Heart.

The band's new song is awful.

It’s a bummer to see what this band has become. They have never been groundbreaking musically, but the first two albums are so good and heartfelt. I hate the direction they’ve gone and unfortunately don’t think they’re ever going to be the same. What a shame.

I can't even begin describe what Another Story means to me personally and how it encompasses the emotions of what my wife and I were going through at that time. Then to hear this new song and its not even in the same universe.
