    Bob Law
    Black And Blue Bird
    Samurai Cop
    New Song
    Crazy Easy
    Virginia In The Rain
    New Song
    Bismarck
    New Song
    Death on the High Seas
    Shotgun
    Sugar Will

If they could just get Crazy Easy, Shotgun and Sugar will down in the studio and come up with three more really quality new songs and trash Be Yourself, we could have a really, really, really good album.

Honestly they all have VERY catchy hooks and chorus lines.

I'm really really encouraged by these three new tunes.

I was afraid they had lost it completely last summer with Be Yourself coming out but when you put these three new songs together with the three acceptable tunes from last summer and Sugar will you've got a great 2/3rds of an album.

This band has never been subtle or casual about album releases. It turns into a long drawn out process with tons of hype and advanced marketing.

There is absolutely no way we see an album before 2017.

    True,

I wouldn't mind it getting the type of treatment they are giving it now for when it gets laid down in the studio but I'd like them to keep it spacey and drawn out for the road.

Kind of like Two Step, they really packaged it nice and neat for Crash but kept it still big on the road.

I think they announce the album towards the end of 2017 to mark the end of the hiatus and that it gets released in time for 2018 Summer Tour. I could also see a 2009 style Spring Tour to promote the album heavily and then a more normal summer tour.

So I agree, I definitely prefer the flow of Sugar Will say from Live Trax Vol. 2 and was not super psyched initially with the version they played Saturday but after listening to it for the last two days I can see where they are trying to take it. The jam section of it was still solid, just not sure of that weird loopy horn intro. I prefer the slow build from Live Trax 2.

This is what I see too. Road test the songs this tour, finalize the album during the break, release for the 2018 tour.

No way we see an album this year with no tour in sight for at least 365 days.

I think something will happen, if there are more new songs that come out the chances are good.

Why they'd write new songs and no tour in 17 doesn't make sense unless it comes out at the end of this year with a fall tour. Unless they release it in 17 and also release live shows and such beings no tour.

Either way I think we'll get alotta live stuff for the year or a new album with a tour in 18. With no tour next year they have to make money someway next year.

Im calling Holiday (November-December) Release with a Month Long Fall/Winter November-December tour to support. Fans have new album for 2017. Band takes 2017 off. Bank on it.

Or..They'll release in 2017 to hold fans over for the year

If they really are taking 2017 off, than "if" there is a new album it would have to drop during the summer tour. That is unless they release it in the fall and do a bigger-than-usual fall/winter tour to support it. I think they will drop a single soon and than the album in July. Mind you this is pure speculation, I have no "sources." haha

First, this is the problem with putting songs out there early. Someone isn't going to like where it goes. I guess we're those guys. I just loved the song after coming around to it mid-way through the 2004 tour, and it's hard to shake how great it was to me.

Second, all that being said, I expected it to be shortened in studio. As much as I love the 2004 Sugar Wills, there was no way it was going to make it through the studio as it was on the road in 2004. I just loved the slow build and flow of the song. But I'm not a big fan of the horn intro, and the horn section on it in general. I need to go listen to the Cville one again and pay attention to the solo/outro of it.. but I think I'd like it better if it was just a solo sax on it. Roi in particular, but no use wishing for something that can't happen.

It's not the 90's or '00s anymore. If it weren't for Steve Lillywhite, we'd have gotten zero info on AFTW. Other than that, we got very little info until the few months before that album release. I'm not saying we're about to get one, I just don't think they're going to build it up like they used to do.

Having that moral dilemma - do i listen to new songs or wait for an album to drop - can't see me holding out to listen to this new stuff, but I do miss the days of hearing an album from start to finish for the first time.
I guess (as always with DMB) the studio experience will be vastly different to the live one so it will still feel new

You really never know with DMB if the songs will be included on the album or not though. Look at the 04 songs. DMB plays new songs almost every year that never see an album release. These feel like album songs but so did Sugar Will & Crazy Easy.

I have a feeling these songs are being road tested. Minor changes might happen throughout the tour. Then next year during the break the band will go into the studio and lay down the final product and an album will be released late 2017 or early 2018.

I disagree. Didn't Jeff just post a picture from the studio in march? Also Rashawn posted sheet music not too long ago from the studio with the songs that just got played. From what we've heard they've definitely been recording over the last year. These songs sound too polished to just be road testing them.

Second, it's not their style to road test and then not have an album release shortly after, right? Didn't both big whiskey and away from the world get road tested then have an album drop within a few months after? Waiting until 2018 just seems like way too long to road test songs and then sit on them. The band would get bored with them by then and nothing would come of it.

I tend to think this album is way further along than we think it is.

Are you new? If you are, then my apologies, but that is EXACTLY their style. They road test, sometimes for years, then some songs make the cut, some don't. Some drop away forever, some get played on the regular without ever having been on an album, some get recorded and don't get played. This band is ALL OVER the place with that stuff. You cannot predict an album dropping soon by them playing new music. You just can't.

To get more precise to better please you, the recent times that they have dropped 3+ new songs on the FIRST show of a tour has led to an album being released within 4 months.

BWGK - First Show of 2009 - Funny, Spaceman, Why I am
AFTW - First Show of 2012 - Mercy, Gaucho, Sweet
New Album? - First Show of 2016 - Bismarck, Samurai, Bob Law

To my knowledge, in years like 2006, the songs were more sporadically tested on the road. It seems like when they drop 3+ new songs on the first night of a summer tour that an album is pretty far in the works. Obviously this is not full proof, but at least follows a logical timeline,

Long story short, this year fits the timeline more like 2009 and 2012 which led to albums very soon.

Add run while we can and I'd be stoked

If they could just get Crazy Easy, Shotgun and Sugar will down in the studio and come up with three more really quality new songs and trash Be Yourself, we could have a really, really, really good album.

I'd rather have Break For It.

I absolutely love all the new songs, they're a little bit different and that's a healthy thing for a band, I'm glad they aren't trying to write the next Dreaming Tree/Stone/Billies all the time, that would be super boring. They missed with Be Yourself, but I think all the other new tunes will make a relevant album to fit in with what's happening in modern music and the C'ville show made me feel like they still have some steam in their live show....in 2014-2015 I was afraid they were turning into a feel good summer band that plays their staples....totally support new music and this new album in the making

I'd like Sweet Up And Down and Idea of You.

But if they have a CD with the new ones minus Be Yourself and a few from the Shotgun/Sugar Will/Idea of you/Sweet Up and Down/Crazy Easy group I will be thrilled.
