I requested the reserved seating option, whatever the most expensive level was, which was for the 200 level seats. Those are the only ones at $75 and that's what I got.

    Hey, all!
Seattle gal here. I will be going to the show with my friend who lives in Park City. Never been to Utah, let alone for a DMB show. I am super pumped to see them somewhere other then the Gorge (been going for 12 years now). 4 DMB shows in one week? Twist my arm!
I got my tixs for the Gorge on WH but was not confirmed to go to this show until this morning. My friend will be getting our pit tix (hopefully) on friday morning.
Any advice for this Utah virgin?

I'm a BYU grad now living in SLC. I thought I was pretty alone here! Hope to meet everyone at the show this year. I'll try to post some good food/hotel advice for the "Utah virgins" later.

Park City is awesome in the summer. Amazing amount of trails to hike/bike/run etc... Especially if your friend lives there. Main street offers some cool shops, restaurants and bars...

As far as SLC, the venue is clear out west and there is literally nothing around the venue that would be anything of interest, unless you wanted to go hang out at a Wal Mart or something. Downtown SLC has gotten much better the last few years. Pretty eclectic offerings of restaurants/bars etc... City Creek Mall just opened last year, and although extremely Mormon, its a really cool mall.

Just east of SLC, you can access the Wasatch Mountain Range and several ski resorts that offer summer activities. Its just incredibly scenic and beautiful to be in mountains in the summer time. Again, you could hike/mtn bike/run etc...

Being a full time resident, I spend most of my time enjoying the outdoors here. The geography is something to take advantage of.

Me and my friend are super outdoorsy so she is already planning the hikes. I am excited to check it out!
How is the venue? I know it really doesn't compare to the Gorge, but what venue does, right!?
What about weather? Should I expect it to get cold at night during the show?

It's pretty, especially at sunset. Here's a shot I quickly googled.

With the show being end of August, you may want to have a sweatshirt or something after it gets dark, but shouldn't be too bad.

EDIT: Also, big to everything Pick Me Up Love said.

Well, I have to admit I was wrong. The 201-203 sections are up still. Looks like only the 100s got taken for the PIT. Still pit tickets available, too.

I go on vacation in orange beach every spring. I was there last week. I walked around the venue when I was there. Pit is huge and not a bad seat in the house. If you have nosebleeds all the way in the back you'll see we'll

Wish I could make this show

They did last time, but it was a bit of a cluster and some of the regular pit people got in at the same time.

Since it was a free show last time people were lining up for pit super early. I arrived around 1 pm and there were probably 25-30 people ahead of me, but once they finally opened the gates I'd say the rail and maybe one row behind were full until MUCH MUCH MUCH closer to the start of the show. Plus it was an odd crowd in that many of the pit ticket holders had flown in from other areas expecting an epic show due to the two previous cancellations.

Awesome, thanks! I think since the hubby and I are coming in from out of state, and won't have much else to do, we'll pack a lunch and head down about noon and hang out all day. I'd like the rail at least once in my life, and our other shows are the Gorge, where I'd rather hang at camp with friends than wait at the gate all day

4 together in 302, row A off a 98 account. I'm pretty happy with that. This venue is not the easiest place to get 4 together. I sat in 201, F, in 2010, so only about 10 rows back. Pumped!

Yes, Gorge is about so much more than the rail to me. If you can try to bring some shade as the area around the gates has nothing! A couple people brought shade tents last time and it was life saving.

I am really torn on this show, I currently don't have tix as we are heading out before dawn on Wednesday to meet up with our Gorge group at Wildhorse Wednesday afternoon. I think I will watch some sets and if the one offs are looking good I will get a ticket last minute.

Good thinking on the shade! We'll have all our Gorge shit in the car with us, including a easy up 10x10 canopy. We could totally set it up to wait under all day, and then pack it back up and put it back in the car a short time before gates open.

I have a small amount of concern about this show too, particularly since it's the show immediately preceding the Gorge. I hope it doesn't turn out to be a photocopy of one of the Gorge shows.

Yup, I'm not a hater, but I'm not a ballwasher either. Unfortunately the one night stands lately have been very generic and mostly mailed-in sets. I am fortunate enough to be doing the gorge so I'd rather save my money and see a few shows from smaller acts (Xavier Rudd, Galactic, Umphreys, etc) than do this show. I hope the boys prove me wrong though cuz the pit at USANA is pretty small and not all that crowded. I'd love to do pit here again.

You can also stay downtown, it isn't that far from the venue and most of the hotels have parking garages.

Yes, the mall is down by temple square and it is actually owned by the church. Lots of high end stores and it is really pretty. And yes Scheels will have a ferris wheel and an aquarium and dead animal mountain and a demo kitchen and a kids play place. My company helped build the one here, it's pretty cool and not so red neck Macys as Cabelas.
Thought we ought to move this convo to the appropriate thread

Do you guys have a Co-op there? We love checking out other cities' Co-ops, and they usually have killer hot lunch counters that are food allergy friendly.

And yes, Cabela's is quite redneck-Macy's!

Maybe we should go with a downtown hotel. You think our car would be safer in a garage?

Yes, I think you would be fine downtown, much better than West Valley.

We do have Co-Ops, but they do not offer meals. If you go the Sugarhouse area or 9th and 9th I am sure there are gluten free options.

Has anyone on here made the drive from Denver to SLC? Unfortunately I can't make the CO shows and this might be my next best option.
