Same. It always blows my mind when I see it on the news.

I know my old city had two polling places, they only have one now and it’s caused a real issue for elderly to be able to vote

My current city only has one at the school but small town and it’s centrally located

Depends if you live in a state that wants you to vote or not.

Small town Kentucky? Yeah. They want you to vote.

All I’m saying is you could probably put a group of us at a table for a day and we could come up with 50 different ways to make in person voting safer and easier in a pandemic (aside from mail).

    I live in Raleigh, N.C.

I’ve voted at a community center and an elementary school. Never has taken longer than 10 minutes

everything this guy does is just a facade

    https://www.politicususa.com/2020/08...-cut-fake.html

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on FOX Business that President Donald Trump’s executive action to offer a temporary payroll tax deferral for those making under $104,000 per year would be “voluntary” and up to employers. That presents an enormously difficult decision for employers who could either decline to give their workers an immediate pay bump or later be forced to claw that money back if the taxes are not forgiven.

I trust my mail-in ballot way more than I would using one of those in-person machines, especially if using a drop box.

I’ve been the annoying “ you have to vote” guy in my friends/neighborhood group.

A lot of my buds have moved from out of state and some are about to move out of state and I got them all to register so they can vote here because NC is more important than the states they left/are going to lmao.

There are still tons of people who require mail-in voting (and the USPS to function properly in general) even when there's not a pandemic. So your pushback against mail-in voting (and allowing Trump to let the USPS fail) is a moot point.

    Well this is just dumb.

A million more ways a mail in ballot doesn’t get counted versus a machine.

They can still use mail in voting.

    This isn’t difficult.

Not dumb at all. I know very quickly if my vote has been counted.

Those machines have well documented vulnerabilities.

My cousin lived here for a year then moved to Florida three years ago. He still gets Colorado ballots at my house in the mail.

The Supreme Court on Thursday denied the Republican Party's request that it reinstate witness requirements for absentee ballots in Rhode Island after the state agreed to waive the restrictions in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The ruling is a rare win from the high court for advocates seeking relaxed voting restrictions in the midst of the public health crisis.

The Supreme Court issued a brief, unsigned order saying that unlike recent cases where "a State defends its own law, here the state election officials support the challenged decree, and no state official has expressed opposition."

The court did not publish the vote tally for the order, but Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito and Neil Gorsuch said they would have stayed a district judge's order that the witness requirements be waived for the upcoming elections.

For early voting here in Harris County (I live in a suburb of Houston, which is also in Harris County), I usually have to wait in line for about 30 min for early voting. I am sure some have seen media reports of people in inner cities waiting multiple hours.

I want one of the focuses on the Biden's administration to be voting accessibility.

    Activist JeepKid is good JeepKid

BTW: local gun shop got raided by ATF the other day. Very curious to see what comes of that, apparently they've been under investigation since 2017 and obviously nobody is saying shit on it publicly.

That makes two reversals from last week's circus already:

On Wednesday, the Department of Labor (DOL) issued an unemployment insurance program letter to state agencies providing guidance on how to administer the extension of federal unemployment benefits, technically known as Lost Wages Assistance (LWA), that President Trump announced over the weekend. The most important paragraph in the letter confirms that eligible Americans may only receive an LWA payment of $300 per week, not the $400 that Trump had promised when he issued the executive memorandum.

New: the USPS has been quietly removing mail sorting machines from distribution facilities, including ones that sort ballots. "I’m not sure you’re going to find an answer for why,” a union official told me, “because we haven’t figured that out either.”
