Remembering Roger - rconverse

On February 26, 2021, we lost one of our own, rconverse. His name was Roger Converse. He was a member of the Ants Marching community since 5.10.2003. The dude was a true OG in the Ants community.

He had been fighting cancer over the last year and he unfortunately did not win the fight. For those who knew him on here, he was always a fighter.

For those of you who didn't know, a bunch of us in the Prompter put together a bunch of cash to purchase from Cameos for him. These Cameos were made the week before he passed away so he unfortunately never got to see these. However, as a community, I believe that we should see and enjoy them:

Soup Nazi

J. Peterman

JT Barrett
https://youtu.be/R0TZrQG1ZsY

Cardale Jones

Bree Olson
https://youtu.be/9fCmlgMU2m4

Feel free to add comments to this thread. Talk about your favorite online or IRL moments with Roger....good or bad.

Lastly, if you'd like to express your condolences to his family, they have an obituary here: https://www.echovita.com/us/obituari...se-jr-12374817

RIP Roger

These videos bringing a smile to my face. Thanks for organizing these, Neums.

Gonna miss Rog a lot. Dude always came off as nothing short of genuine and real. Gonna have to get out to Chicago sometime and think of him when I'm there.

I think Rog would have really loved those videos. Thanks Neum for putting it all together.

RIP Rog, we all will miss your wit, humor, hate for Chicago, and of course your mastery of Microsoft Excel.

Those are awesome! Peterman absolutely nailed it, so sad that Rog never got to see these. I think he would have loved them. I hope he knew how appreciated he was on the boards, and in life.

Basically the same thing to all of them except Bree and Soup Nazi. Told all of them about his illness and that he was a fan. As for the other two, I said the same thing but added the excel portion.

I didn't want ALL of them to be about excel. But figured a few could have that in there

Peterman was obviously the best; well worth it.

Can't believe my guy Troy Smith still hasn't sent his in.

Hopefully Roger's family can see these and find some peace that so many people supported him.

For as much shit as we talk, and for as many arguments that are had here daily, Ants is such a phenomenal community to be a part of. So much love here.

    Re: Remembering Roger - rconverse

My fondest online interactions with Roger was a long time ago - at least a decade I assume - during a different political climate, I was posting a lot of things that some might call anti-law enforcement (and I definitely used some inflammatory language that I should not have) & there was very little support for things that were about criminal justice reform. Roger pm'd me and let me know he supported many of things that I was was preaching about & discussed a very negative law enforcement encounter he had in his life. Between that and being a fellow fan of Ohio State, I think we had a bit of a bond there.

I also remember hanging out with Matthew in Austin about a week or so after the famous Matthew / Roger / Adam meeting, and hearing some stories from that encounter!

Very sad to see this. I hope he got to get a speeding ticket in his Daytona. I was looking forward to hearing he was doing better just to ask how it was going. Will miss him.

Thank you for relaying messages for us Neum and helping us all with the efforts to give him some laughs.

I didnt have many interactions with rog, however i always enjoyed reading his posts whether i agreed with him or not and certainly respected him. He was a good guy. Its a strange thing to know someone only through posts on a forum and mourn them without ever actually having met them, but he was one of us, an ant. I pray for his family and for him, i hope that he has found peace.
