Re: Peloton bike

Kendall is still my fav but I get it. Emma is right there though. I have been getting the best workouts with Ben though recently.

Kendall has been slipping for me as well. Emma is definitely my favorite, with Olivia and Alex not too far behind her. I have been enjoying Tunde's HIIT classes quite a bit recently.

Olivia and Kendall probably offer the most challenging rides for me outside of Christian Vande Velde, but agree that Kendall is kind of annoying.

Did run #250 yesterday with Selena!

We also purchased a Tonal which got delivered last week. Things pretty cool so far. I like it a lot more than Pelotons Strength classes.

Definitely interested to hear how the Tonal works out after some use. I'm guessing they install that for you?

Yeah I think Emma has surpassed Kendall as my fav at this point. Yesterday's ride I went straight to her list. She's great.

    Just did my #100 ride.

To compare, I started my 99 today repeating one of the first rides I did, a 90s with Emma.

    I went from:
    66,000 out of 93,000 to 25,000 out of 93,000
    5.32 miles to 6.35
120 total output to 181 (PR for 20 minutes for me)
    Avg speed 16 to 19
Avg output from 100 to 151
    Avg resistance 40% to 44%
(Avg cadence didn’t record the first time, was 85 today)

Did a newer ride for 100 so I could get high fives
(250 people were in the class at the same time).

    Thanks!!

I was glad I redid a ride for 99. It meant more to see how I’ve improved vs just hitting 100.

Ruh roh, Peleton is recalling all treadmills and admitting it was wrong to fight the Consumer Product Safety Commission on it.

Peleton gave a big middle finger a month ago and refused to recall. Now there has been one child death and 70 injuries.

It's almost as if treadmills are dangerous if you have an infant or are a dumbass.

Yeah but I think it's the aspect that the front of the Peloton treadmills are open. So something getting near it while it's running would effectively get pulled under it. Vs a typical treadmill that's open at the back but the belt is pushing things away from it at that end.

The treadmill recall is not good for Peloton. At the same time, as someone with a 2 year old, I can't imagine letting her anywhere near a treadmill that is in use. It doesn't absolve Peloton by any means, especially for fighting the CPSC's original recall recommendation, but unless there is some way for a child to turn the treadmill on, I don't understand young kids anywhere near a treadmill that is turned on.

I did my first ride with Cody yesterday. While I PR'd, he is definitely not for me. I'll echo the Emma love. She is my favorite. I'm in a Slack Peloton group with a bunch of my coworkers, and we're doing Emma's 90s ride today to celebrate 200 with one of the group members.

Eh, I don't think it hurts them much in the grand scheme of things. The tread didn't sell very well anyway.

I absolutely love my Tread so yesterday was a bummer. I'm not returning mine. We don't have kids and don't plan to. We do have a dog but she is terrified of the thing and we make sure she is not around when in use.

I'm just worried about future content. There were tons of rumors yesterday about no new classes and even taking down OD content until it's all fixed but they've had a couple live classes tonight and today so we should be good.

I do feel terrible for the family of the child who died, I can't imagine. But any exercise equipment like that is is dangerous for both kids and adults.

Added Select Tech dumbbells to the home gym 2 weeks ago. The Peloton strength classes are pretty good.
