Their magic number to secure the WC spot is 4. To clinch the home field it's 10. So, it's possible for them to clinch both while you're there if the stars align properly.

Exactly. They are basically delaying the inevitable. I love beating Boston, but still, the division is a little bit of a landslide and good for y'all. Hopefully the Yanks get a chance to meet the Sox in the playoffs.

Even though the division is meaningless at this point, these wins will help the team get back in a groove, which is what you want heading into the playoffs. If we can sweep the best team in baseball heading into the final 10 games of the season, it will do a lot to restore their confidence as a team. Even though the Sox essentially have nothing to play for, they still put their best lineup out there last night.
