Agreed as well. I always thought Who Says was some super cheap imitation of Rainy Day Woman #12 & #35.
John Mayer is the ultimate conundrum of an artist. On one hand he admits that he likes writing pop songs. I especially have a hard time taking him seriously here when he writes about heartbreak, when we all know full well he is smashing a new girl every night and loving it. On the other hand, I saw him perform at Crossroads with the Trio, blues-filled, and he smoked it. Came out on stage, said about three words during the performance consisting of "Hello" and "Thank You", and laid down one of the better sets of the day in a line-up filled with Jeff Beck, Clapton, ZZ Top, etc.
Who knows with him. I think he can take his music to great places, but with him, that's not a guarantee.
