Re: The National

It's an interesting article. Matt is pretty transparent at times. The album is going to be amazing, I'm sure.

Definitely get the Cherry Tree EP. Then move onto Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers. And then The Virginia EP, which is outtakes from the Boxer sessions. And then their self titled first album, The National.

Exactly. Fashion Coat, Murder Me Rachel, Available, It Never Happened, 90-Mile Water Wall, and Slipping Husband would all be fine live.

That's cool Jamie... I'm seeing The Clogs Friday, both Dessner brothers are in that band and Matt is guesting. The Saturday I am sitting in on a radio interview with the Dessner brothers so I'm hoping for some more album news out of them...

I got a free sign up through the venue they are playing at here in Minneapolis. Get all four of their albums, all are masterpieces. This new album, will be the first containing vocals, the only two I can remember on the album is Matt Berringer and Shara Worden (who also is guesting Friday!).

    Re: The National

    I figured I should post this here and in The National thread;

Hey guys I just got back from The Clogs Night 1 here in Minneapolis, MN tonight. I posted a review, who may like to know more about a Clogs show also, http://allthewine.2.forumer.com/inde...showtopic=1595.

I wanted to come in here because Bryce teased with some information about the album, and I intend to get more during the Radio Interview before the next concert tomorrow...

He had to apologize to us because his brother, Aaron, couldn't make the show as planed because Aaron was finishing on their (The National's) new "monster" (Bryce's adjective) album tonight. He said it was very important because it is "done" after tonight to get ready for it's May 11th release date.

So, that was all though... I'm banking on maybe more info tomorrow during the Radio Interview at a local Museum at the University of Minneapolis. If not during that, after tomorrows concert there is a get-together that anyone who came to either of the nights can hang out (free snack food/wine/drinks) with The Clogs. I hope to meet and chit chat with Bryce during that...

    Re: The National

If some of you haven't heard the new album is titled High Violet, and there is a website with 5 little videos of inside the studio...

    highviolet.com

Here are my 5 clips thoughts and opinions...

    1. Really neat little drum/ Guitar sythns stuff (with little vocals) that turns into a very beautiful piano thingy, this has some great potential...

    2. Nice new vocal melody for Matt, he's really pushed him self to be a more rewarding "singer," haha if Matt was ever that... The music, what little is comprehensible, sounds very beautiful.

    3. Some tantalizing guitar-ing between the Dessner brothers. This piece is orgasmic, the latter guitar part is another great little piece of Bryce's...

BTW; when I went to the Clogs show, at the pre-concert Interview thingy-ma-bob, Bryce talked about how lately instead off feeding off each other (Bryce/Aaron) as their typical style, they have more of a co-op writing method this time around or something. He had a better way of saying it but I forgot his wording...

    Oh, and a Trumpet!

    4. Nothing to really comment on, the band doing some in between take commentary and instrument tweaking...

5; The vocal re-verb is nifty and the lyrics are pretty stunning, Matt has a Morrison vibe going on there and Bryan is channeling "Boxer" style drumming in this clip, thumbs up!

"The Fucking re-verb was way too high." - A Dessner Brother

"Hey, hey, more verb!" - Matt

The National will be on Jimmy Fallon tonight, debuting the new song "Terrible Love" of off High Violet. After the show there will be something special on the High Violet website, assuming it might be a free download of the studio track (the single) or something else perhaps...
