they measure the teeth after they capture/kill it.

she gave a good description - or the people with her... they knew it was big so they just go and find the biggest alligator around there.

that's not too terribly far from where I live; there's actually a 14+ fter that patrols the general area around there - there is a trail that people take their horses and he's been seen lurking around where the horses go to drink... folks are quite careful around there with him.

I would be packing if I let my horse drink in the water the gators are in. Granted, they would have to be quite large to bring down a full grown quarter horse, but still. Great excuse to shoot an alligator.

that story is bullshit; alligators don't attack people 5-6 feet out of the water. This guy was probably in the water messing with the gator.

lol at people in the comment section telling people they are dumb for being that close to a gator. What about getting stomped by a few wild horses?

You're out of your mind if you think I'm going to stand there around a bunch of wild horses. I've been bucked off a domesticated horse and seen them kick. Fuck that. It looked like it had a foal in the herd so that's why it was probably being agressive imo

    Re: Alligator attack.

An elderly man in the down in Florida had owned a large farm for several years.

He had a large pond in the back. It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over.

He grabbed a twenty litre bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee.

As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end.

One of the women shouted to him, "We're not coming out until you leave!"

The old man frowned, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked."

Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm here to feed the alligator..."

Some old men can still think fast.

Was going to say this. Not the brightest dog walkers. Was in SC this past week talking to my dad about this stuff. He said he doesn’t even go near the water to look for his golf ball without an extra club in his hand. Waves it in front of him to scare anything in the area before he steps on a copperhead or a water moccasin. Couldn’t imagine being dumb enough to stroll around a lake in Florida with my dog in range of a gator attack.
