Well you didnt say "hey they have too much control". Im completely for privatizing some stuff, but there are still things that can be corrected with the government stepping in, but most of the time when you try to talk to someone about it that has the mindset youre displaying it quickly reverts back to the generic BS I posted.
I can see your point, but I'm not like those other people.

I'm simply speaking from my perspective. If a pollster asked if I support socialist policies, I would probably say yes and my previous posts have explained what I interpret socialists policies to be. I still don't understand how you speak for everyone by being able to say that the general socialist movement wants to abolish capitalism, but I'm not allowed to say what I think the socialist movement is trying to accomplish.

Don't disagree with this either, but as Benny sort of said the other day, at least the dem con helps regular people sometimes

I agree with the second half. This is how the game is played on both sides of the isle though. They play the two headed snake con while the rest of us get screwed.

The issue I see is there is no middle ground any longer.
He doesn't even need to enact anything at this point. He literally trolls half the country every single day. He tweets to rile people up. He does those rallies for two reasons; his tiny penis needs it's ego stroked once a week and he knows he can yell a bunch of dumb shit and rile people up.

Which is fine, I've got no problem with people arguing for lower tax. I've said on here I think high-earner tax rate thresholds should probably be higher at this point to account for costs of living.

The issue is the gut reaction on the right is to side with big business like they give a shit about you and call us socialists and commies.

I never said that. But the ideology of socialism is antithetical to that of capitalism. That really isn't up for debate. All I said is that people have varying perspectives, shocking I know. The issue with democratic socialism is that no one here could probably give me the same definition of it. That raises red flags in my head immediately.

Im guessing the con is that if they give those things it will lead to the downfall of our capitalistic society.

But lets just ignore other countries doing it at least moderately successfully because it fits the conservative argument.

At least dems arent completely two faced and flat out lie to the face of Americans about things like the tax cut helping the middle class while the rich laugh their way to the bank.

OK, playing along with this, how do democrats benefit from the downfall of capitalistic society, especially as has been mentioned earlier, most wealthy people are democrats (apparently)?

Never really thought about this...but there may actually be a point here. One could make an argument that a healthy, educated populace could reduce demand on a number of items. Junk food, soda, a whole myriad of products that nobody needs, healthcare....

And herein lies the slippery slope. How much of people's lives do you want to regulate under the guise of "good intentions"? I'm not even disagreeing with you, but it is a problem. People will always make shitty decisions.

Theres definitely an argument to be built from that thought... the reality is most on the right dont know why theyre arguing against universal healthcare and more school funding etc.

Like I said above, it often resorts back to incredibly naive or simplistic viewpoints like "durr all gubment is bad and wastes money" that have been fed to them throughout the years. They argue against things that would help them for reasons unbeknownst to them.

But, it FEELS like a movement that's poised to overtake the country and upend society as we know it, because some articles were written about it the last few weeks I guess?

Fair enough. There's a video on YouTube from OWS called "I'm the 1% ask me anything" or something like that, it's a cool watch.

We both want the same outcomes here so if at any point it seems like I'm arguing just to do so, it's not the case. I just want viable solutions that make sense for most people, because no matter what there will be a sector of the populace that gets screwed.

I wouldnt call giving everyone healthcare and bettering our education systems anywhere near regulating peoples lives.

Getting money out of politics is step 1 in changing anything.

Sadly that first step seems nearly impossible.

I'm pretty sure the same can be said about most political ideologies right now. What does Republican mean to you? What is the modern definition of "conservative".

A lot of ideology is in flux right now as there is a rush away from the center and into the extremes on either end of the political spectrum

I think all rallies are stupid but that's besides the point.

I don't know of any rallies for the far left antifa. Clearly, if they're able to for a counter protest, they're communicating in some manner. Personally, I consider both fringe groups that are off their rockers and I don't take them seriously.

Camp is going decent this week. Stormy weather has ruined some of the fun but it’s all good. Thanks for asking.

Camp is going decent this week. Stormy weather has ruined some of the fun but it’s all good. Thanks for asking.

Of course. Which is why hanging your hat on one interview in Vox saying DSA's central goal is to destroy capitalism and saying 'see, see!' is asinine. Lots of folks identify with planks in DSA's platform but don't have to be for abolishing capitalism. Pretty amusing to watch all the Chicken Little's in here, though.

Sure, I'm envious of people with more than me. I don't want THEIR money, though. I've been bootstrap pulling and will continue to do so.
