Jordan will have his opinions, but I recommend going to Sunrise as opposed to Paradise. Most first timers go to Paradise, but I think the views are better at Sunrise.

https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/sunrise.htm

There are a nice network of trails. My favorites on the Sunrise side are Fremont Lookout, Skyscraper Mtn., and Burroughs. All are pretty much the same view of Rainier, but it's a stunning one.

If you go, just make sure you get there before 10ish in the AM (earlier if you can) as the parking lot can fill up fast in the summer. 2ish hour drive from Seattle.

Hit me up if you want anything more specific.

    very logical.

N1 lawn is a must for me. (except last year, since it was #100 I got railed)

I will prob do lawn, lawn, pit this year. that's my usual move.

If you can get in right when gates open and secure your spot in the terraced lawn area, it's better than the seated area. Views all around are great. PIT is yuge here, but it's in direct sunlight for a couple hours before even the first opener.

Honestly, the seats at the Gorge are REALLY jammed together - I wish I'd have known that - enjoyed my spot on the lawn much more than the two nights in the seats last year.

Yea, Premier is what my wife and I would do if it were up to us. 2 of the 6 would prefer Terrace, so splitting it 6 ways wouldn't be as bad. We'd probably find our way into Premier for the most part anyways....lol

I'm going to champion for Premier as it's cheaper and still seems like they'll be able to get their showers and toilets and all of that stuff.

We've been talking it for years, but have never pulled the trigger. But as time goes by we're getting closer to the option no longer being there.

So I looked at my wife last week and said "we're doing the Gorge, I'll take care of planning the whole thing. Just request these days off from work."

I was pleasantly surprised with the shower and bathrooms in premier. Small line formed around 9-10 am for the showers but it went quickly and still had hot water.

The atmosphere in premier is great.

I second this statement. Wouldn't do lawn anywhere else but at the Gorge that's the best spot to be. It's really relaxed and sloped so well that you can always see over people in front of you.

After doing reserved seats and a hotel room the one night I went to The Gorge in 2015 (yes the year we got Drunken Soldier) decided to do 3 night lawn tickets, Gold Camping, flying into Seattle from VA and renting a large SUV. Feeling pretty good about it so far. Celebrating a couple months late for my 41st birthday and realllyyyy glad I decided to do Camden on my 40th last year and not wait thinking I would do 41 there!

As mentioned above, WH already sold out. They have a huge base of regular campers that return every year.

Premier is great, you won't regret it.

Completely - it also saves you from one hell of a hike up the hill at the end of the night from the seating area haha!

I'm so not a lawn guy, but this is one venue where it jsut works better than the seats - glad I did both - if I ever go back, i'll be content to save teh extra $80 and just enjoy my time on the lawn - met some great people too.

I'm not shocked after so many venues getting cut.

Also smart move on their part to announce the supporting acts before ticket requests....

This is the main reason I put up with the cramped seating and prefer Reserved seats/PIT at the Gorge, especially if it's a windy night. Worth it to me for the better sonic experience.

Yeah I watched Hamilton on Last Stop from the top of the lawn and it definitely wasn't as good as seeing him on LIOG the next night from the seats. I'm not complaining at all about the lawn, the views are incredible, just found the sound to be a little lacking and getting back to a spot a challenge.

I would second what the other poster said, as Paradise can get crazy busy. However, on Labor Day Weekend, I would guess that all areas of the park will be packed. I would say get there even earlier, around 8am or so, to beat some of the crowds.

Paradise is on the southern side of the park and might take the longest to get to, but it is the most popular.
Best hike out of Paradise: https://visitrainier.com/skyline-trail-panorama-point/ The drive just to this hike will take your breath away! You'll come around a corner and Rainier will just be in your face. If you have time to do only one thing at Rainier, I would recommend this one, just because gives such classic views for not alot of work.

Sunrise is on the NE side of the park and might take a little longer to get to, but its also the highest you can drive to, so the views are stunning.
Best hike out of Sunrise: Naches Peak Loop (but Burroughs and Fremont Lookout are also great)

NW area of the park has Mowich Lake. You can drive straight to the lake to get your fill, or hike from there to Tolmie Peak Lookout (which will give you a stunning view of the mountain if the clouds allow).

Hope this helps. Its a big park but I'd make time to at least get close to the mountain if you can!

Do people tailgate not in the campgrounds? LOL ... or if we want to have some fun during the day, we have to go walk around the campgrounds?

People definitely tailgate in the parking lot, they always seem to be having a good time when we walk by them to get in the gate.

Yeah of course, it's a good time and I met YNK there but being at Cave B > tailgating in the lots IMO

Ok cool, I just wanted to make sure haha. The group I am going with was anti camping so VRBO was only option. Great to hear though.

Idt I could imagine enjoying a 40+ min drive pre and post show for 3 straight nights out there.
