Yep. USC just got 5 downs. They converted on 3rd and 1, then on 1st down spiked the ball and UCLA called a timeout. They came back and everything still said 1st and 10. Then they threw an incomplete pass, gained 8 yards on a pass, then spiked the ball again to stop the clock on what was really 4th down. Then kicked a field goal on 5th down. I don't know how that happens. How do the refs and UCLA coaches miss that?

Charlie Strong's still gotta have a lot of appeal as a coordinator somewhere, right? He had an awesome defense at UF under Urban Meyer. When he gets fired, is he still not a hot pick for a DC job somewhere? I don't see how all those DC smarts just disappeared in his time at UT. The state of his defense at UT is just so confusing to me. I don't know how to make sense of it, other than him being HC and getting less time with the D was the reason.

OU will probably jump PSU... if it comes down to those two for a playoff spot that will be an interesting debate. If OU wins, they will be the Big 12 champ and ended their season with 2 good wins.

I assume PSU would then jump OU if they were to go on and win the division and B1G title. Would also have 1 more win, and it coming vs a top #10 opponent.

Also common opponent nod would go to PSU beating Ohio St.

One thing to go back to just cause I'm rambling about OU, when the committee referenced their "tremendous offense" , I agree they do have one of the best offenses in the country, BUT they are also playing in the Big 12. Iowa St put up 66 pts yesterday. It's not hard to look like a great offense playing in the Big 12. Just didn't like that as a rationale, because of the conference they are in.

Also to make matters worse yesterday, my bartender buddy who talks to donors told me one of them told him that Oregon is likely going to throw 6.5 mil at Holgo. I dont think we can match that. gotta at least offer him 5.5 if thats what the Ducks are really offering. Losing DH would set us back alot. Dont even wanna think about the recruits we would lose.

It would be stupid of WV to try to match that. Why would you pay Dana Holgerson (i'm assuming that's who Holgo is) $6.5 million?

Im not going to go into why I think he is a great coach. I would absolutely pay whatever it takes to keep him.

One thing WVU has going for them is Holgo's kid is only a soph in HS and starts at QB for Morgantown High, so that could factor in a decision if he gets that kind of money thrown at him.

Im just hoping that donor had info wrong. 6.5 mil would make him the 3rd highest paid coach in the country, more than Urban Meyer. But they have stupid Nike money so who knows.

UT wins that everyday of the week, especially since Herman was a GA at Texas. However, I'd love to see him go to TAMU or LSU for my own personal interest of seeing him replace at Ohio State in a few years.

I think the money is a wash. They both have plenty deep pockets, so it comes down to where he wants to live (that's a no brainer) and where he thinks he can have success.

Can't root for anyone in the conference to do well but is nice to see the conference getting some credit.
