Re: **The Official Vinyl Collectors Thread**

Anyone here of shipping problems for ABB release tomorrow? I've called a few places and none of them received their orders. I'm wondering if I'm just running into bad luck or if there were issues.

I don’t know how many copies the shop received, but the place I shop did receive copies of ABB.

I was at my local shop this morning and picked up the Grateful Dead Buffalo ‘77 release. When I was flipping through the bins I came across this Mellon Collie import. Anyone here have any info in it, my phone was acting up in the store and couldn’t pull up Discogs.

This morning's RSD was the most anti-climatic event I've been to. Got there at 5:30 thinking there'd probably be a few in line already. Nope. Next person didn't show up until 7:45. Maybe 12 people in line when the door opened. Most people didn't even get there until 15-30 minutes until opening. After the first three people got in line everyone agreed to go sit in there car instead of the cold. We didn't even form a line until 10 minutes before opening. It was dead silent, albeit socially distanced and masked, the entire wait.

Either way, I got Grateful Dead & The Who with ease. Might try to grab the Skid Row release later today if I can find one easily in a drop.

Got Sign O The Times and Allman Bros. at my local store. Got there about 2.5 hours before they opened and was 5th in line. Probably 30 people in line by the time they started letting people in.

Wildflowers is a total homerun. I gave it a full listen this am and I'm thrilled with the 3LP. That recording team was able to capture an incredible sound.

Grabbed the Dead set and Austin Powers 2 soundtrack via Plaidroom online at 4pm.

I think my days of lining up for a release are over. I haven't missed out on list-price releases over the past 5 event days now. No need for me to get up, nothing is ever all that limited anymore; or at least nothing I'm after.

I agree that it's entirely possible to get almost everything online these days. A little bit of dedication and know-how it's not hard at all. I haven't done RSDBF in-person in 7 years and still get everything I want.

The only reason I still go in person is for the camaraderie. I enjoy hanging out with other music fans and the general excitement of the event.

Exactly where I am as well. It seems they are pressing more or are simply “RSD first”. The demand isn’t there. I really enjoy the concept and hope it keeps going. I kind of miss the limited aspect of some of these releases but am more enthused being able to obtain the music without having to stress much...or endure flippers

    It's a great release

Even the "All the Rest" tracks are gold. A lot of times, stuff from the same session that winds up years later as bonus tracks is like, "Hmm, I see why this was left out," but the additional tracks here are just as good as what made the record.

Miles Davis was the only thing I was looking for. First in line at 8:45, second guy showed up around a half hour later and a third about 9:40. They both wanted it as well, so it was worth the extra time waiting. Bummed that the store didn't have ABB, but I'll call it a success.

I believe the ABB is just a RSD first though, right? Should be available soon. I think I read somewhere early January.

Same here. We have a really good crew of regulars that show up early, bring stoves and coffee pots, pastries, etc... and just have a good time talking music. Doing that in April and Nov is great. 4 months in a row was a no-go for me.

I had forgotten that I joined the Metallica vinyl club pre-covid, and the first installment is finally in. Pretty fun little 7", great song choices from a live show that I have a bootleg of. Sound quality is not the best, but the packaging is excellent and everything well made. Hopefully some real gems to come in the series.

Yeah I bought that too but I think I got the cheap shipping option, it hasn’t arrived yet. They had a bunch of issues pressing I guess. Excited for it to arrive

Picked up The Strokes' Room on Fire on my trip to Amoeba in San Francisco today

Went in search of some of the rarer gems and foreign titles on my list and struck out pretty impressively

They also only had the 5LP version of Wilco's Summerteeth reissue and that's not really my tier of budget or interest

    We all started somewhere!

Best way to fill it up is to go crate digging. Find a record store with a bargain section or a thrift shop. Sometimes you can find some good pulls for cheap. One of the record stores in town usually does 3 massive sales each year. Most everything is under $5 and I've had some big name pulls each time. They're not Grade A mint, but when you score a Zeppelin record for $4 it's tough to complain.

To add to what WidespreadMule3 said, sometimes I've found some gems at Goodwill

I picked up every Simon and Garfunkel album one day (except for Bookends) for like $5 in a Goodwill haul

I need to do more of that! I’ve been buying more used records lately, but mostly online.

Got a new Kallax shelf last night for my boxsets. Really liking having them separated from the LPs.

And yes, my wife has already started Christmas decorating.
