I may have brought my passport with me just in case, but they didn't ask for it.
The bold is the "big" piece that I had missing. It's just kind of dumb to me because I had to show that to get my DL, so we're now actually moving backwards.

Since then, I bought a few copies of my BC from the county I was born in and am going into the DMV to get every ID available under the sun. I don't mind the red tape or fees as much as the time it takes to get through the process at the DMV.

I think the Real ID's are about as close as we may get because they seem to kind of act like a national ID. Which, may answer the question as to why I have to go back and re-prove I was born here but whatever.

I have no idea where my birth certificate is.

I'm not sure who those documents "may be required" for, but it's Texas so I could venture a guess.

So wait, the DMV CT website is very clear that two pieces of mail are required. I mean it literally states it in the ‘Real ID document checklist’ requirements #3).

So this dude goes off the rails at the DMV, asks for a manager, yells at them, goes online and claims everyone is an idiot and didn’t graduate, and everyone at the DMV is uneducated, meanwhile the complainer failed to follow simple instructions.

    Good stuff. Thanks

Just go to the city you were born in and pay the couple bucks for a copy and having a notary stamp it. That is the easiest way if you need it.

Exactly. Which is why I had to look it up myself. It’s also 98% of people who call other people ‘retarded, uneducated’ etc. Typically the people who belittle others are usually not the brightest.

I linked to the CT dmv site I checked on and showed it mentioned nothing about mail. Additionally I did not go off on anyone, he was being a sarcastic ass for no reason so I replied in kind. So yeah, I do question their professionalism, intelligence and education. Not to mention this fool state that has two different sites telling us two different things.

I scored a 1390 on my SAT, earned a BA, a BS and am MA so I think I am relatively qualified to comment of the intellect of someone who gets paid from my tax dollars.

The CT.Gov website clearly lists the two pieces of mail in the ‘Real ID checklist’. I’m not following why this was difficult to find. Maybe I misinterpreted how you treated them but it sounded to me like you went off the hinges. I was just saying there is no need for that in practically any circumstance.

I remember needing my birth certificate for my passport. My mom has the one with my footprints on it from the hospital but they wouldn’t take that. They just requested the proper one from my hometown for a small fee and a half hour wait.

This would cost me $1,126, in travel alone, plus a hotel stay, any associated fees and two days missed work.

If I wanted one from the US Embassy... I have no idea how I'd even do that or if they can do same day service. From my experience, very unlikely.

Thank you for reminding me I need to track down my birth certificate.

I got a 33 on my ACT, which is higher than a 1390, so I get to tell you tell you things don't work that way.

If you want a copy of your BC, just go online and search "birth certificate + county you were born + state." Most likely, there's a site where they'll instruct you on what you need to provide to them for them to provide you a BC.

What's funny is that, I sent them the exact same stuff that I had with me at the DMV to the county and got my BC. At least, I have a few copies of my BC though, so it's not all bad.

Re: What (besides politics) irritates you?

Just to clarify for everyone, I didn't come in here to argue or get into random debates. I came into this specific thread because I was royally pissed at something that irritated me - aka to vent among people I BS with quite often. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone and if I did I apologize. I did not treat the clerk with anything but politeness, I simply asked for a manager when she could not help. The manager was a tough guy wiseass who after not even trying to help or look online he made a wisecrack that I responded to sarcastically. I left pissed off as hell after a workday that began at 4am and was capped off by wasting 2 more hours of my time waiting in the DMV to try and get my license upgraded. That is all, I did not come in here to argue, just vent. Apologies for the tailspin and to anyone who got offended. I am off to watch extra time in the WWC semi. Be well all!

    hmmmmmm.

Also, that 1390 SAT score really couldn't buy you an "o" in "among"?

Just typo's, I am exhausted (not all that conducive to typing) and still annoyed.

Thanks but I do not care who wins, just want to know who the US will play in the final on Sunday!

Edit: to my personality I do consider even a wisecrack at a stranger blowing up. I vent to people, forget it or just plain yap (OK vent) in ants but in truth I am polite to 99.99% of people I meet or know. If they annoy me I just stay polite for the most part and certainly do not throw public hissy fits.

And all the other misspellings were typos, too? I mean, I'm mostly just giving you a hard time, couldn't give a shit one way or the other, but to come in here all waving your SAT score around saying that gives you some God given ability to judge the mental capacity and training of people providing you with a service, only to misspell more than a couple words.... well that's certainly something.

Such a bizarre mentality to assume where someone works is an indication of their intelligence/education etc.

I don’t even know why I’m posting here right now. The last two pages of this thread are embarrassing. The amount of ignorance and arrogance is mind boggling .

Here’s a rant... dealership just took my car through their crappy car wash after I waxed my car, and now I have round circles in my paint again. Asked the service guy twice to not run the car through the wash on two occasions. Mechanics also left hand prints on the interior. Good times!

I recently moved and needed to update the address on my license. I walked in on a Friday afternoon without anything proving my new address yet walked out with a new license. The girl asked me if I had two pieces of mail and I just looked at her and said, "I do not." I guess I smiled enough and she took care of it regardless.

I'm positive I got away with something that I shouldn't have. Oh well.

I feel the same way about Rodney’s mom.
