That 7/3/03 would be fantastic. Plenty of Live Trax options for the future.

Live Trax Vol. 2 and 43, both 2004 shows sound incredible. Vol. 8 is probably my least favorite mix of the 2004 shows released, but still solid enough. Live Trax Vol. 2 still seems like one of the best mixed every. Hopefully, this one sounds as good. I'm excited for all DMB releases, but this one feels kind of like a let down for Live Trax 50. Especically, with the monster of release we got for Live Trax 40. I really thought it was going to be a multi show release...giants stadium 2000, etc. I want everything!

I'm not to keen on Live Trax 2s mix. Maybe its just me, but somethings just a little off in the mix. Otherwise its a good show.

pretty cool fun fact: There were lots of
celebrities around for this one, many of whom could be found hanging
out in the DMB dressing room at some point throughout the evening.

I can understand fans complaining about the 2018 and 2019 tours, because at certain points it really did sound the same from night to night.

Anyone who thinks the same about 2004 is either judging shows strictly based on setlists, or they have no ear for instrumentation. This tour is full of improv & growth, especially the songs that were played every show.

Good Good Time gets all the credit for 7/10/04, but the real MVP is LeRoi being at the top of his game all evening. I can't believe we are finally getting this.

True. I’m guessing that had something to do with the way the show was recorded. A big outdoor venue with two guys playing acoustic has got to be a challenge. It just doesn’t make sense for LT48 and 49 to be mixed by the same guy within the same time frame and have one of the sound superb and the other subpar.

Damn, I was thinking I really like 8s mix, but I think live trax 2 is a pretty poor mix.

I'm 31, but 2004 is about the time I fell in love with the band, so I'm cool with it. Just seems weird, they've tended to go a little bigger over the years at holiday time and this year it's just a single show.

I remember burning so many CDs, that summer my first with a driver's license, and driving around listening to various qualities of versions of the new songs. Getting hype over the Too Much "Lil Jon" outro. Little things like that over the course of a tour that continued to evolve was something that really made this band special for me.

I do agree with the sentiment that the songs aren't evolving over the course of a tour like they once did, but at some point I have to ask myself how long I should expect something like that. I mean let's face it, this is an old band now.

I can relate to almost all of this, and I definitely don't expect them to be the same band today. I've been lucky enough with my shows the past two years that I am still in for 2020.

I also had a majority of the tapes from 2004 when I was in college, and they were constantly in rotation all summer. I went to Europe halfway through that tour, and several of us had a bunch of tapes that we kept trading throughout the trip, giving recommendations for different things to pay attention to. There is a certain desire to relive the greatness of past tours, and I think it is possible to do so while still enjoying what they have to offer today.

I dont think it's weird they chose this show as the holiday release, and I dont think they picked just any random show for a milestone in the LT series. I do think they are about to make a lot of money.

I’ve been stunned by stuff on this message board in the past but this is something else. Anyone not interested or complaining about this selection needs to have their DMB fan card taken away immediately.

This is a holy grail type of release; one of the best shows the band ever did.

I love statements like this. I don't care about this release. I think it's a poor selection for LT 50. I don't know that I ever received an official fan card. Will you be sending them out so that I can then have it taken away?

The second half of the show isn't worth paying for IMO but The Fam type comments are always fun

It's a good show but it's not even an honorable mention for the Mt. Rushmore of shows. Also, I think most people are excited about this and it's going to sell well.

This post isn't meant to be a dig at you or anyone else on this forum, but I've always thought this was on the Mt. Rushmore of shows & obviously that is subjective.

Just curious what you and others think are on the Mt. Rushmore of shows?

It's not even the best 2004 show in my opinion, so it's hard for me to say it deserves to be in the pantheon of greatest shows ever. As to what I think the Mt. Rushmore of shows would be? 12/31/96 is about as perfect as it gets for me. 11/11/92, 8/27/00, 10/31/98, 11/30/98 are all up on my list of best ever released shows. 7/25/00 is the best show I've attended.

The improv jam is pretty sweet, I'm glad to be getting an official release of it. 50 is a sought after release from one of their best years. This will be great.

all great shows. All unique in their own way. When i started getting into the band i just gravitated towards the 2004 shows/sound and this show was always one i kept coming back to.

And the fact that the best part of this show was already released, I think, negates some enthusiasm for this show

    Mt Rushmore!!!
Great way to look at a show by omitting one of the most monstrous first half’s of a set they’ve ever done.

Still not sure what point posting the second half would prove anyway? You’re looking at mostly good to great classic songs on a night where the band is on fire and featuring the classic line up with foundational Butch. Plus add in the ridiculously rare and good improv jam plus a Prelude to grace that has only been played twice.

Maybe you could single out WTWE and WAYG, but you can also find a lot of fans that don’t hate the band playing these in 2004 and respect LeRoi’s playing there.

This. Very average second half. I can name a couple shows better from 2004.

Pointing out that half the show is good not great would be a good way to indicate this probably isn't one of the best shows they have ever played as some people are making it out to be. Nothing out of that list makes me want to buy it, perfectly good checking it out on YouTube which I have. I've always liked Prelude to Grace but the other version of it IMO is far better.
