Enjoy! Venue is gorgeous in the summer with the city skyline behind the stage.

However, getting to and from can be tough. You can take a cab, uber, etc. there but I'd recommend getting close to the museum campus and walking/killing time at a bar.

AFTER the concert, it's a bit of a nightmare. Cabs/uber, etc. don't get close so you have to walk a bit to find one. However, in my past years tons of people walk back to the hotels on michigan ave, etc.

If the price changed, I'm sure it was not more then $25 per ticket. If this is that big of a issue for you, maybe you should not go to the show.

Did you not even read where I said I requested the 4 pits? It's not an overwhelming issue, it's just something I pointed out. Indicating I should not go to a show because I brought up a price increase is one of the dumber things I've seen on this site but whatever works for you.

Dont even bother responding to this guy, hes got nothing better to do then constantly argue with people on a band website.

For those who haven't been to Northerly Island, Here's my 2 cents....

This venue, for the most part, blows. It's a pain in the ass to get to and the sound is pretty awful in the Lawn. If you are considering going and you actually like to listen to the music, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT sit in the lawn. There are a few decent lawn spots in front of the speakers, but it's mostly terrible. You can barely see the stage and the sound is not good. The venue is literally right on the lake which means, as those of you from Chicago know, the wind can be vicious and fucks with the sound badly.

Now, you can still have a great concert experience here, but you absolutely need to get good seats. The Pit actually pretty nice, with easy bathroom access.

In terms of getting in and out of the venue, be ready to walk...and walk.....and walk.....and walk some more.

I mapped it. walk is about the same as walking from standard camping at the gorge to the venue (at least to get to Michigan and Roosevelt)

This venue is fine if you don't do lawn.

    NEVER do lawn at Northerly.

This nails it. The Lawn is brutal. The venue is fine.

I moved from Buffalo NY to Chicago where Darien was the home venue (Darien is the worst). Trust me, people in WNY would kill for a venue like Northerly, right in the city. I've never been bothered by a little bit of a walk. Would people actually prefer to travel , during Rush Hour to Tinley?!

If you haven't been, you have nothing to worry about with the venue. It's not Alpine, or Deer Creek type atmosphere, But the ease of staying in the city, walking/Red Line/ Uber to Museum campus makes it good enough! I also think the concession areas, including the large tent in the lawn area makes bathrooms and concessions easier to manage than most venues.

But don't do Lawn, you'll be watching on a TV...

Last year at Alpine it took FOREVER to get up the hill to use bathrooms or get a beer. I love Alpine... but being able to come and go quickly and not miss multiple songs is certainly a plus in my book.

FWIW, I used to bitch about this venue all the time on these threads. I think its' improved since 2014, and after visiting other venues and I stopped comparing it to "Alpine" it has grown on me.

Everyone gripes about the lawn. I’ve never been on the lawn so I can’t say much but there’s plenty of big venues that have crappy lawn.

We just get sad cuz alpine is the best of the best.

If anyone wants a walkable hotel recommendation, The Blackstone is an incredible hotel. I did a staycation with my girlfriend there for our anniversary and it was truly amazing.

I booked the travel lodge, right around the corner from there. In my searching, that currently has the best price-to-walk distance ratio. All said and done it's $378 for 2 nights, just off Michigan Ave, and a 1.4 mile walk through the park to get to the venue. Didn't seem too bad.

That place is a dump. Essentially a motel right off Michigan. Pretty sure that place is 90% meth heads and hookers.

Amazing top notch property for sure.

But once you walk back to the loop getting an Uber or taking the train wouldn't be an issue.

Pending charges showing today for the 4 ticks I requested. Per usual, it doesn't mean much till they hard-post or are confirmed but looks like they're making their rounds.

Aaaand hard posted charges for 4 tickets at the top tier $ amount. Either 4 pits or 4 "lowers" if you want to call them that. Really hope they're pits because I do not want seats at Northerly.

    Hey All,
I got hard charges for the upper reserved for Chicago. Just wondering if there are bad seats and if I should try for better during public sale or instants? I've done lawn here, and it was by far the worst concert I've seen, so hoping to not repeat that. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wildly dependant on the section you end up in. For example: 301-305 are not bad but 306-309 are terrible. 306-309 is basically glorified lawn. You can't see shit from back there.

Want to say though, too, that 301-305 are not "good". 310-314 are elevated too, so you can kinda see from there. 306-309 are just terrible. 201 and 207 are awful too. Check this out:

Thanks for this! I've been debating if it's worth coming back to this venue (because it's not in the lawn) and now you've made my decision a little harder. Guess I'll try my luck in public sale and instants.

    Thanks again!

Going to the DMB themed Warehouse Bar in Lincoln Park is cool if you have the time and they probably have a party shuttle to the show both nights.

If you're staying downtown off Michigan Ave a must is the new River Walk.

How did people do? I got confirmed pits for both nights, kinda surprised but I'll take it!

Confirmed for 4 seats at the $127 level for Friday. Requested 4 pits. We’ll see what the section/row comes out to but I’d much rather trade these for pits for anyone is interested.

I got confirmed for 2 pits on Friday - might be interested in swapping depending on your section/row when the seats are posted. Keep me updated.
