4:01AM - Just got back from Hershey
Drove from DC to Hershey for the show. Just got back because the traffic getting out of that place was almost as bad as Nissan (which I'll be at tomorrow too).
I'm not going to give a song-by-song review. I was 9th row center in section B, and this was probably my 20th or so show.
The show was great. I've definitely been to worse shows, and I'd even venture to say this is one of the best I've seen (perhaps because of Tim's amazing presence).
I really think the band likes playing this venue. Dave talked about going to the Hershey factory with his and Stefan's kids earlier in the day. In fact, he mentioned when introducing the Black Crowes that he was riding his bike earlier and wiped out (probably why he opened with ODH, in my opinion).
Energy was great. I love seeing Timmy look over to Carter when they're playing off each other and trying to keep in sync.
Dave was dancing around a good deal; you could tell he was having fun up there. And it really seemed like everyone had their time to shine. Plenty of Boyd solos, Leroi/Rashawn solos, and of course Timmy tore it up.
Typsitch blew me away. Great Timmy solo (you could tell he winged it too; he gave a nice smile to Dave when he finished, suggesting "good?")
One song that I've never really dug that really stood out for me was surprisingly YMDT. Nice, tight version. Pretty sweet.
Oh, one other big point I wanted to make: Dave's voice is on point right now. He was hitting some super-high notes without any problem. Just thought I'd point that out.
Was super-surprised to see Ants follow Two Step. They really jammed out both Money and TwoStep, so you'd have to be a greedy fool to think that they'd throw in a 3rd one. They did, though, and Ants rocked.
Overall, great show. I was glad to only hear one cover, too (some shows have had 3+). Shotgun or Stone would have been nice, but I'll take a tour debut of typsitch any year!
