Re: Hershey 2009 Review
I figured I would post my quick review in this thread rather than making a new one. I know I am a few days late, mostly because I have a life and haven't had a chance until now.
I was in GA and the crowd around me was terrible. I was surrounded by drunk gossiping, coors light vomiting, 17 year olds. I wont get into a review of every single song, but the highlight of the show (for me atleast) was definitely #41. I know people complain that it is too long or placed poorly in the set, but I'd rather hear a 20 minute #41 over Old Dirt Hill > Everyday > Cornbread. Hell I would honestly be happy if the entire show was #41.
The new songs were ok, but unlike most DMB songs, the variation between the CD and live music was very slim. The crowd really seemed to enjoy Why I Am.
Everyday and Bayou were awful as usual. I know most casual fans love these songs, but I do not. I just wish once in a while they would replace one of these songs with maybe Jane, Recently, Drive in Drive out, Cry Freedom, Say Goodbye, Raven, Pig, The Stone, Spoon, Big Eyed Fish, Captain, Best of Whats Around, Pay For What You Get, Rhyme & Reason, What Would You Say, Minarets, One Sweet World, Recently, or JTR. Any of these songs plus several others would fit nicely.
I've been going to shows since 02 and after last years terrible Hershey show, I though it might have been my last. A few months ago, my girlfriend surprised me with tickets for this year. I enjoyed parts and I had a great time. I know the ticket price is steep, but for me a $55 ticket, plus $10 parking, plus two hour drive, plus having to be bored through Everyday and Bayou is still worth it to see #41, Seek up, and Watchtower. Might even make it to Camden this year.
