Whether or not everyone is getting sick doesn't change the fact that they are collectively not educated and taking it seriously. If you want to say there were 300 people there, taking it seriously vs not was about 4 - 296. It is a collective mindset that has and will continue to put people at risk of generally being sick, being hospitalized or worse.

Every time I go on FB, I think I’m the only person that didn’t go on vacation this summer, hasn’t gotten together with friends, isn’t going out to eat, etc.

We went on “vacation”.... to a lake house 40 minutes away where we were by ourselves (same 4 people as at home) and sat out by the water for 7 days. We ordered out once, other than that we went shopping like we normally would have to stock the house.

We've started taking more "calculated risks" I'd guess you'd call them. We've seen friends (two sets of couples) several times this summer outdoors. We know they're all working from home and are taking necessary precautions when going places. We have seen my parents and my fiance's parents and we went up north and stayed at a condo type of deal. Also going to go camping in a few weeks.

It all feels relatively safe (knock on wood). We largely stay home, haven't gone out to any public spaces aside from stores, and always wear masks.

UT here was "encouraging" staff and students to get tested but they weren't going to offer or force tests. Hell, we barely have testing capacity right now. My wife's hospital literally has a weekly ration of rapid tests.

It's obviously impossible to know exactly where I got it, that being said ...

I had a fire alarm go off because of low battery, fireman came over from the station across the street, asked me if my unit was the one with two confirmed cases. I had no clue what he was talking about. At that point I asked the group of condo owners for the four units this building has. The couple who lives below me said they both had been positive for over a week, I share the same door, hallway, common spaces, entry porch, etc. Two days later after feeling very low on energy I black out in my bathroom and break through the porcelain of the toilet with my head which was a concussion. The water from the toilet overflowed onto me as I was unconscious and flooded my bathroom, going through the ceiling into their unit. I am under the impression they wanted me to pay for their damage, I have no clue how those types of situations typically go but was instructed not to by the condo insurance and individual advice on my own. We don't talk.

This is largely us. We haven’t gone inside anyone else’s house with them or anything since March. But we have 3-4 families that we know have been as cautious as we have and have done outdoor visits with them (one family at a time, not all together). We did do Airbnb trips with each of our parents but each time only after legit quarantining for almost 2 weeks to be safe, all were in driving distance so no plane worries.

we have 2 sets of neighbors we basically hang out with. They both have kids who are home, and without them, our 5 yr old might have killed us this summer. The one set works in the hospital- dr and nurse. Dr had it in March...since I got it in June we figured we may as well drop the social distancing. We probably eat with them once a week. At the end of the day his whole family has been exposed, as well as mine, so we figure it cancels out.

I would fly if needed.

I sat on a train for 3+ hours each way in July wearing a N95. granted, trains are different, i'm sure, wiht ventilation and closed circuit stuff, but it's not difficult wearing a N95 for an interval as such.

would i book a leisure trip? depends if i were able to control my isolation as much as possible, but that wouldn't be much fun for me (hiking by myself, etc).

but not everyone would be able to be held accountable, so that's why i've been avoiding things like that.

nope. So I got the cough around father's day, we were with my inlaws that weekend.

Couple days later I saw my sister, b-i-l, and dad for father's day (super irresponsible I know, but all of us had quaruntined and had been "careful" so we made exceptions, stupid looking back)

luckily nobody around me ended up having any symptoms. My dad had a regular dr apt 2 weeks later for his heart, needed n EKG and got the rapid test and was negative


some of them may have gotten it, but no symptoms

Actually I read all of the air in a plane is completely circulated and replaced every 3 minutes. With 2/3rds of the new air from outside and 1/3 recycled after passing through a hepa filter.

They encourage you to run your little air thingy.
