Made a thread because trailer #2 just came out and I'm starting to get hyped for this show. I think it has a shot to be better than Episode 9. Obviously Disney believes in it as they've already started filming the second season.

was it known previous to this trailer's release that Bill Burr was in the cast? if it was I don't know how the hell I missed it, seeing him in that shot was the most awesome kind of surprised. I had to go play it back to make sure it was really him.

I knew about it b/c I heard him talk about it.

Looking forward to this series... wife isn't a SW fan (kinda like Bill Burr!), but I'm hoping I can get her into this.

I'm not sure how they came up with that release schedule. There are three days between the first and second epidsodes, but nine days between the penultimate and final eps.

Probably 45-60 minutes like Netflix shows

I sort of think it might make more sense from a business perspective and creating longer-lasting buzz about a show. I feel like when a show releases on Netflix, it gets a moment of buzz and then sort of goes radio silent. Some break through and become hits like Stranger Things, but I feel like soo much of their content comes and goes without anybody noticing it.

When you release episode by episode, and there are reviews out there of each episode, it sort of maintains a longer presence in the news cycle, and can attract new viewers/subscribers. I get that some of our habits are formed to want to binge, but I would guess there's a business advantage to the weekly schedule.

Although in this instance, I don't know how much prolonged media exposure a Star Wars series necessarily needs to gain more viewers, but in general I think it makes sense with content at such a high right now.

I totally get why a business would do it. GoT or BB would not have been the cultural phenom they were had it not been for weekly releases. Binge culture diminishes that greatly.

As a fan, I just want to spend a Saturday blazing through an entire season.

For sure. As a father of 3, it takes me quite a bit of time these days to get through a show regardless of its release method, so I definitely find that I'm a little more "in the moment" and part of the cultural conversation with shows that unroll weekly.

Because the service launches on a Tuesday, they either had to make you wait 3 days or 10 days for a Friday release schedule. The Wed release for the penultimate episode is weird, but maybe the holiday season is a factor. People will be shopping and at Christmas parties.

Watched the first episode. Thought it was good. I get needing some references to put us in the world since it doesn’t really have the look of the saga, but i hope it doesn’t continue on the current trajectory. There’s Easter eggs and there’s a voice over saying “and who can forget this charming character from episode 4?!” And they ran close to the latter.

I can’t wait for episode 2 though! I didn’t see the ending of episode one coming at all. Thought it was cool as hell!

Damn that was great. I was all in after that trailer and that was perfect. Loved the way it was shot, the pacing, and I thought the call backs were phenomenal. Right down to those dino thing from the shitty Battle For Endor movie

Absolutely baffled by the ending... had to go back and check where in the timeline this fits. I thought maybe it was a long, looooooooong time ago. But since it's after ROTJ, I'm very intrigued.
