Sciencey!

If you post it a lot and really wish it to be true, maybe it will be.

That's what you said about my natgeo link about 1918 and then I quoted the paragraph that detailed two studies. I've got even better and newer mask studies for you I'll post later.

90k daily new cases. Over 1K deaths again.

    Hospitals getting overwhelmed.

    Not good.

I didnít realize Gupta and Kulldorf were radiologists. You might want to fact check that.

    Re: COVID-19/new coronavirus thread

Dr. Osterholm mentioned in his latest podcast it's not hospital beds that should be the main conern, but intensive care workers becoming patients. Also, a lack of PPE for hospital workers in general will make things iffy. And a shortage of much needed drugs like sedatives required for ventilation care.

When you break things down, you always see the flaws. But then you can hopefully address them in due time.

Like all our shortcomings in fighting this, itís a people shortage. If you find 30k motivated, compassionate people willing to go to work in the bad nursing homes you could improve the situation.
    Yeah, I hear ya.

Just read an article that said hospital space isn't necessarily the problem, staffing was as the number of covid patients increase.

Gotta think people will die needlessly because you've got mary who has no experience as a nurse now treating people because we've been run so thin.

The article said that Wisconsin is really struggling with that right now.

Idk. Gotta live your life, right?

A lot of staffing levels are based on patient satisfaction which ties back into funding and reimbursement. You can do a lot more with less if everyone is just happy to go home even if their nurse didn’t get them the extra jello at lunch. That obviously takes a toll on the staff though. I don’t know if anyone would have the balls to go through with it, but I’ve heard people suggest letting family into say goodbye would really improve staff morale.

All the hospitals I work with had staff layoffs this summer. A lot of the good nurses jumped over to Dayton or Cincinnati Children’s. Sick kids suck, but a COVID shift is worse.

At this point, let's just ride this straight into the pandemonium that the GOP wants. /s

But that said, reading the news and hearing things like this, this situation feels so hopeless. At this point, it's like why are we even trying anymore? Our government isn't.

I'm really sick of being the bad guy for following the procedures. Had an argument with my parents that I didn't want to see my extended family for the holidays. Somehow I'm the bad guy for not wanting to possibly be the patient zero when it come to my 92-year old grandmother dying.

And with each large increase like this, we get just a little bit further from normal life returning. All those concerts that were a possibility next summer/fall are slowing getting pushed back because dip shits want to go party and drink in bars.

I don't strongly disagree with your general theory that herd immunity might be achieved at lower rates than some experts think, I think there's some science that supports it being possible, and we just don't know yet. I just don't agree at all with the notion that we should just let other mitigation efforts go to get there as soon as possible.
