With the confirmed rumor and assumption that we hear tour dates a week from today, what are the odds they mention a new album as well? Is that all we will get or will real album news be tandem with the tour announcement.

Or do we get, "DMB is excited to hit the road Summer of 2022. They've been working on their new album and look forward to touring on it and releasing it later this year"

New album will be called About Yesterday and will be remixes of Come Tomorrow. Release date 2024. 2 copies per ticket purchase.

My feeling is that 95% chance we get an album release date with the tour announcement, and maybe 75% that they give the album title as well. Rumor is that album will be released before the start of the summer tour, which would mean they'd need to announce it soon. Announcing the tour and album together just makes sense.

I would agree if that rumor is indeed true. The typical preorder is about 10-12 weeks these days for new albums. But they also typically release a digital single that same week. So fingers crossed we get a nice present a week from today!

I wonder if they'll just surprise drop the entire thing. If that's still cool.

"Chasing the Avalanche" is creative and could be open to many different interpretations but i'd prefer to take the thought out of it. Name it "patterns on the wall" so i think of someone shotgun blasting body matter onto a wall every time i listen to the record... incidentally, we already have an album that makes me think that. It's called Stand Up.

Ya.. It didn't work out. I think they over cooked it live. It was great for a few years, but you can't play a song live for 14 years and then expect to have any life in it in a studio setting.

Yes! They bragged about how cool it was during the interviews for the making of. I think it was Rashawn or Alagias idea. Not sure why they had to go the youtube route unless they thought it was cool to go from lofi sound to hifi in the transition. It was an idea that did not work.

Someone once postulated on this board in '07 or so that Idea Of You could end up as the next Solisbury Hill in commercials, movie trailers, films. After a decade working on it, nope.

The bad thing with the Idea of You is that Rob Evans said that bit about the intro, and they left that in the video, leading to countless fans whining about something they wouldn't have otherwise even noticed. It sounds great, and if you compare it, it's not a direct cut & paste from YT, leading me to think there's more to it than just ripping from YT.

I liked it's earlier lyrics than what the final version ending up becoming.. And the drumming in the studio is not my favorite beat for it. I'm not a drummer but some versions sound different. Like not the double time or whatever they call it.

I always saw Idea of You as a Nickelodeon movie anthem. It always seemed to have such promise, but the lyrics he landed on bother me. Then again I feel the same way about Raven, so I'm a minority here.

Idea of You’s stupid YouTube intro is a bit of a red herring. They laid a version down in the studio in 2006, then took years to develop it on the road. Lyrics more or less “refined” and had a good feel, Carter’s groove in the chorus allowing it to breathe more, they had it ready to be successful. But then they used the unfinished 06 version, regressed the song back into its infancy, didn’t even re-record the vocals- so we’re left with what should have been a cool vault relic as the “official” studio version. It’s maddening.

And that’s one of the problems with CT as a whole. The band finally puts some vault songs on an album, but they do it in the worst way possible and they still sound unfinished. I don’t want to say laziness, but they should have re-recorded these songs. Now it’s possible Dave just thinks he shouldn’t ever put vault songs on an album cause we’ll complain. But when we say we want these songs on an album, we want them to be reflective of the years of road testing and growth these songs have made. polished sounding cuts. Instead not even Can’t Stop is fun in the studio version because they thought Dave’s bad vocal performance was “raw.”

I always wondered if Rashawn meant they should record an intro like they do live and Rob Evans just totally misinterpreted. Idea of You is one of my favorites and the studio cut is just so disappointing

I couldn’t agree more. I love that Fenway version on LT6 and still listen to it fairly often. The drum beat that is on CT is just bad and doesn’t fit. Also don’t really think the lyrics ended up being very strong. It’s a nice idea for a song, a first love/crush kind of song that could have hit home for any fan and unfortunately it just didn’t. Still enjoy the song, but I typically listen to the Fenway one.

I always was a live cd fan, but The older I get, the more I’m really digging more into the studio tracks. It’s just nice to hear it in high quality and clearly without screaming fans. I hope they hit the mark on this one!
