How far in are you? Because the pilot was bad and that's the best episode. There's one later on where the sheriff actually fights some MMA fighter in an octagon

Justified has the writing, acting and backstory to sell those moments. A guy can be "disarmed" or rob a mine and it's earned because the show has spent hours cultivating the relationships and moving the pieces around. Banshee just checks cinemax boxes and calls it a day.

Tits? Check. Violence? Check. Crazy bad guys? Check. Gore? Check. The acting, writing and directing are terrible. The main character might be one of the worst actors on television. Frankie Faison is the only worthwhile person on the roster. Things happen for no reason. Hey, let's go rob the state museum, stage a ridiculous, poorly filmed getaway, then not explain the why or how.

The idea that he's a sheriff in a small PA Amish town is utterly wasted. There's no exploration of the culture or Amish politics or anything that sets it apart from Anywhereville, America. Justified is so good at making Harlan feel like a unique, lived in Kentucky town; the show is strongest when it explores those dynamics. Banshee just sets up shop and proceeds to start beating ass/fucking chicks/robbing stuff.

Had high hopes for Banshee, especially after cinemax showed it could do action drama well with Hunted and Strikeback, but it's just awful.

with still having my month of Netflix after initially watching House Of Cards, yesterday I found the old 90's The Langoliers on there and gave it a look. oh my god, it's hilarious how awful it is. FX look even more dated than the ones from The Stand, and I've seen better acting from a 4th grade school play

S1 was amazing and S2 was as well. Just thought S4 was off the chart. When old girl opened the door and said "hello, daddy", I just about lost my shit.

The only problem is once you've seen an episode or two, you've seen them all. Also, sometimes it was oddly depressing. This one couple had to have other people come register their groceries because of a $50 limit or something and they were having people over then next day. Just weird to me in one way. However, saving all that money is also awesome.

I am not saying that at all. I am not sure. Seemed somewhat legit but what do I know?

They had the money but there was some rule that you could only work $50 at a time. So, the wife went, then husband, and then had to call friends to come do the last two transactions. This on top of the groceries they were buying were for a party the next day and without these deals they were SOL. (That was the episode. No idea if rigged.)

i know the episode they shot in my town was rigged. some woman that was one of my coworkers friend went to price chopper and, off the top of my head i dont recall all the details of what went down, because they were shooting a tv show let the woman use double and triple coupons or however that madness works. but i guess price chopper does not let you do that any other time? only when shooting a tv show apparently.

Yeah, the double coupon is a big part of this. I know it's different per store but in eps I've seen, they've stated "Tuesdays" (or whatever) are double coupon days. Thinking about it now, I don't think I've ever heard of one of my local stores doing this.

Are any "reality" shows realistic? Of course not. Who the fuck would watch that? You'd just turn off the TV and walk around your house/neighborhood.

The Americans is really good. So is Shameless. I still need to catch up on Boardwalk Empire's 3rd season and I'm going to start House of Cards some time this week. Not a bad time for TV at the moment.

Been watching the first season of Deadwood and I really enjoy it. I had seen parts of episodes in the past but never gave it much attention. I did notice the opening felt similar to Carnivale--in terms of the music--does anyone know if the same person worked on both shows?

House of Cards is fantastic. Also I went to high school with Laura Wiggins who plays Karen on Shameless. I need to catch up on Shameless, haven't seen past season 1. But anyway, House of Cards is truly enjoyable.
