That is very high for a 3rd line center....be prepared to be frustrated on a night to night basis with his effort and lack of passion.
I've followed his career and stand by what I said. Like I said, forward progression is key.

On a note unrelated to FA and/or the draft, this is apparently something that happened once:

Dougie is a Flame...wow. LeBrun saying Leafs have firm offers (hahaha) for Kessel with more maybe this evening on the draft floor. Tonight could be fun.

How would they pull that off cap-wise? I'm seriously asking, cause I don't see how.

oh it's not really realistic, but there have been rumblings and speculations and honestly nothing would surprise me

Pens would have to unload a shit ton of players to make it work

again, not realistic, but not completely impossible

Yeah I mean doesn't help their cap situation even if you can get $8mil off the books to be able to take him back. Kessel could use a good structure team but I don't think I'd want him.

now, the penguins actually have more cap flexibility than most people think because they'll have a few significant contracts coming off the books once FA begins, but still not enough to make a big time signing

    there absolutely has to be.

i'll stay calm now, but if the bruins don't have the #3 pick and Hanifin tomorrow morning, I'm going to be very mad

package a deal for the 14 and 15th pick, a second rounder and malcom subban for the #3 pick?

So Boston has nothing left from the Kessel deal and soon TO will not have Kessel....Not sure what to say.. Still think Boston won the trade cause they have the Cup and TO soon won't have Phil or a Cup. I don't care what they get for him. They would have been better off keeping those picks and having Seguin and Hamilton themselves.

After the Hamilton trade, or was clear to me that Boston is trying to put together some sort of package for the 3rd overall. I expect newly acquired Jones could be part of it, along with at least 2 of the 3 first rounders they now have.

Woah. Bruins get 13th overall and Martin Jones and retain $2.75m of the cap hit.

This is a terrible deal for LAK.

Bruins are stockpiling picks but trading away Hamilton is a massive head scratcher for sure.

He wanted around $5.5mil cap hit and I don't see how they afford that.

I don't know their cap situation specifically. But they could have dumped Lucic and his entire cap hit perhaps? OK you're not going to get much in return, but would you rather have the 13th pick or Dougie Hamilton? I know which one I want.

    Re: The NHL Thread

If there is a method to Bruins madness, I'm thinking it's:
Stockpiling picks in an effort to put together an enticing package to ARI for their 3rd overall so they can select Noah Hanifin, who if he's NHL ready, could be Hamilton's replacement. raving watched him a bit at BC, I'm confident he'd be worth the investment. A little risky in that you never know if the trade will actually work out, but that's the only reason I can see that they'd feel they could trade Dougie. Sweeney's not stupid enough to stand pat with the return he got for him... it's a means to another end type trade.

Martin Jones will probably be flipped at some point today, perhaps in the hypothetical ARI deal. Boston already plenty deep in goal.

And if they miss out on Hanifin, they've already got a backup in d-man Collin Miller from the Looch trade. Flying under the radar as the prospect of the trade, but kid scored almost 20 goals last year in the AHL and was an all-star, winning both the hardest shot AND fastest skater competition. Plus, he's a righty. If he continues to progress, he could end up being a VERY astute pickup that'll have Sweeney looking at everyone smugly with an "I told you I knew what I was doing" look on his face.

So yeah... the Boston stuff could seem funny right now, but I wouldn't throw them too far under the bus until after all the trading dies down tonight.

You don't have to tell me. I'm curious as to what they offered cause Sweeny said they have him a serious offer.

Nice we were able to unload McGinn as well in the deal. Nice return in Grigorenko and 31st pick. Mostly excited for Zadorov. Pleased.
