We went through this the other day - they're salaried employees and make on average $17. They're arguing that they're putting in more than 40 hours which drives their wages down.

It's a sensationalist headline that's stretching the truth a fair bit.

Well, when you're saying that others are paying hourly slave wages and then your wages don't stack up on an hourly level, it's kind of a story.

Not to mention, no matter what, there's no future or career path for 98% of these people, so to put in 60 hours/week which comes out to $11.50/hour seems pretty dumb when ALDI is hiring at $14.00/hour. You literally get paid more and have a better potential career path with ALDI.

But, I posed a few days ago- during the '16 debates, Hilary called Trump out for his tax evasion strategies. Trump's counter was "I wouldn't do it if YOU didn't make it legal for me to do it, YOU should have written better laws".

While we all know he was full of shit, and we all know he doesn't understand how bills become laws, he wasn't wrong. From what we knew then, the things he was doing were legal.


This is a no-win. The chamber +Fox news et al blasted AOC for paying her staffers more to prove a point. Now Bernie isn't paying his staffers enough and he's getting blasted. Which is it?

$36,000 is more than $15/hr. The only argument here is whether or not they should be compensated for hours worked past 40. But if you're gonna do that, it opens the door for a lot of other professions to start complaining as well
