    Fuck. Yes.

Win the next 2 years, while you still can. This thing is blowing up in 2021.

Had to do it and thrilled they did. Go for it while window is open.

Would love if they also went after Will Smith or a solid lefty. They have some pieces to trade and could really use a late inning arm from the left side.

Yeah, Montgomery and Ryan are not great.

Going to 2 games next month at Wrigley. Gonna be in town for a few days. Can anyone recommend the best stores to load up on bargain team gear?

Luckily everyone else in the division is struggling as well. We are in desperate need of the All Star break

Don't understand the Montgomery trade at all unless they eventually trade Caratini or something. Not really a huge deal, but Montgomery seemed like a decent asset to include in a meaningful trade with his two extra years of control.

Montgomery has been awful for a while and even asked for a trade because he wanted to start. I have no problem with the deal. Montgomery was never going to give the Cubs much back in return. Maldonado can help this team more the Montgomery for sure.

Montgomery wouldn't have gotten much by himself, but he is an attractive cost-controlled 4 or 5 for a rebuilding team. That has some value. Not saying he would have brought in anything on his own, but thought he'd be a piece.

Kind of strange to give up anything of value for a 3rd string catcher. We shall see.

I see him similar to David Ross. Pretty poor offensively, but great on defense. I think that is more valuable than you think, especially considering Contreras and Caritini aren’t great in that area.

I have no problem Maldonado as a backup - just doesn't make sense if he is 3rd string which is why I'm thinking they may trade Caratini. There is zero reason to have 3 catchers, especially when the other 2 are playing well.

Russell optioned to AAA. Surely the organization just wants to move on from him at this point.

Edit: Scott Boras claims "A lot of teams want him."

    The streak continues....

Again, I don't expect the Cubs to win the few games where I can enjoy them but it would be nice not to be down 10 in the top of the 4th.

They are really bad on the road. I don't think I've seen box scores of any other team getting blown out at the rates the Cubs do.

Yeah, I’m ready for the offseason. This team won’t do anything even if they sneak into the playoffs.

The second half of the season has been so tough to watch.

It seems like, unless the opposing team is beyond dreadful, the Cubs can't hit. So many double plays today. With the seaons, basically, on the line we have someone I've never heard of batting. Feels very fitting somehow.
