Re: In need of some golf tips...

Started out hitting it really poorly. Really poorly. I hit a 5 iron OB on a par 4. One of the guys I was playing with is a really good player. Played on the Canadian Tour for a few years and is a +3 or 4 now. He told me that I was dropping my head as I took the club back, almost like I am squatting as I take it back. Then when I come through, there is no room for the club so I have to be either really late or really early to avoid hitting it really fat. So I consciously stood taller, trying to keep my head in one place and it made a huge difference. I started to hit it really well. Now I have something to work on at the range.

Opposite of me. I have a tendency to pick my head up and hit it thin. I can hear my dad's voice in my head as a kid, "you watch the ground, I'll watch the ball."

My problem as well. It's been frustrating me so much lately that I bought this aid. Looks dumb but I used it during my last range session and it actually helped a ton.

Not judging. I hit foam balls with a volleyball between my arms connected to a lanyard.

    Like I said, looks dumb.

But, video confirms my head was rock steady with it. I'm willing to do all sorts of dumb looking stuff to improve.

And....I too have the tourstriker ball.

I don’t need it, but I’m upgrading to the Watson “structureball”. The guy I take lessons from said it is a lot better than the tour striker and had a discount code and I have birthday money.

He’s got every training aid on the market in his studio, and the ball was the only thing that ever worked for me. I can not recommend it enough. Really wish I could take a lesson and actually play to see if my backyard practice with it has helped as much as I feel like it has.

I can make a total ass out of myself on the putting green too. Chalk line, yard stick, iPhone acting as a metronome and I still cannot make a pressure putt to save my life.

I know that keeping my head still is a big issue for me right now. I think I'm going to start really focusing on that as a starting point. Like I said, I really searching right now so I'm just going to focus on one thing.

I love that it comes with a protective case Route.

Keep your eyes still and let your head move. Once you start adding tension in your shoulders and neck your swing goes to shit.

2K21 looks cool, but I have not seen any mention of the course creator. I cannot see spending 60 to play the TPC courses.

Course creator is still there and apparently they’ve added East Lake and I’m guessing more non-TPC courses

I’ve played TGC2019 a ton, so I’ll for sure be picking this up

Nice. If Riviera is in this, I’m hoping the Cat is somehow involved and they’re keeping it quiet. Obviously, this is going to be all about the fucking FedEx Cup, but imagine dualing with JT and Tiger in the Final Round at East Lake.

Yeah my biggest critique of TGC2019 is the fictional competition and some weir style choices. The actual gameplay is great, and the fictional courses they've put together are actually a lot of fun to play.

No Cat if JT is their flagship player. They would plaster that shit all over the marketing.

Will most likely be a bunch of mid-tier players.

My favorite part about TGC19 is the user generated REAL courses.

Courses you'd never get to see or play in real life and aren't on any tours like Cypress Point, Sand Hills and Friar's Head. And also local courses that I play regularly but also get to play in a video game.

Tiger Woods 2004 is still my favorite golf game ever. 05 was just as good, but I felt like tiger vision was cheating.

At this point, I have more faith in 2K than EA Sports.

I haven’t played in probably a year, but the user created courses are amazing. Finding the best version of Pinehurst can be a pain in the ass, but once you do it is awesome.

Bethpage Black made me want to throw my controller several times. Not proud of that as a 37 year old, but it is a testament to how real it can feel.

Conspiracy theory: The top notch user courses are actually made my the developer and uploaded as user generated content to avoid licensing fees.

I've played four of five version of Augusta on there. IMO, the best one is called Firethorn National.

Any of the LiDAR courses are usually great.

    Just logged in. I’m playing off a + 7.4.

Course I really like. Not sure how easy these are to find. They’re in my recently played list.

Bethpage Black - PGA 19 Rating is 74.3
Fishers Island Club (LiDAR) Rating is 71.1
Cabot Cliffs (LiDAR). Rating is 71.6
Austin CC (Tour). Rating is 73.7
Purgatory Golf Club (L). Rating is 71.8
Sweetens Cove Golf Club Rating is 68.0. Only the front 9 is real.

Looks like Augusta made them take the word Augusta out of the search. It’s just a bunch of *********** as the name.

Yeah, all the Augusta courses have names that don't have Augusta in them.

The ones I can remember off the top of my head are Firethorn National, Where Legends Are Made, Southern National.

I think the one with the asteriks used to be called Magnolia National, but they made them change it.

ANGC has a tight lock on that shit.

I’m pretty sure the one in my favorites was Magnolia.

Just fired a 41 on the front at Stonelick Hills in Batavia, OH. First time I’d ever played a LIDAR version of a course I know well. It’s amazing how accurate the geography is. Noticed 1 missing tree, but it’s a great recreation.

I thought that's what it was at first too, but a google search revealed that it's topographical data that the course creators can use to create hyper accurate courses.

They're like laser maps of the land the golf course sits on.

    Great recommendations, thanks guys

Pretty cool that they can use that technology to create the courses.

Gonna try to check some of these out the next time I play. I wonder if there's somewhere that has a comprehensive list. I'd love to try to find a few local courses.
