Went to a wedding today with about 45 people in PA. Not too weird. Ceremony was about 10-15 minutes and at a park, and the reception was at a venue. Everyone wore masks when not at the table, so that included on the dance floor. But it was nice and not totally weird. Happy for our friends, too. They could have some happiness this crappy year.

My sister has covid and her husband has consistently tested negative. Crazy

My nephew is getting married a few days before Christmas. The venue is outdoors but they invited 250 people! Venue came back and told them they can only have 150 max. The venue is also issuing no refunds in event of cancellation due to covid. Guess they figure you know what you're setting yourself up for at this point. Can't say I blame them.

I'm dreading this wedding. That side of my family is very "if we get it we get it and that's just gods will" line of thought, so masks won't be a thing. I want my nephew to be happy but I don't want his wedding to be a headline either.

Don’t gather in large groups with people you don’t live with. What the hell is so hard to understand?

Why would anybody want to go hang out with 150 people? All people do is complain about weddings and their families but now all everybody wants to do is go to one during the height of a global pandemic because “fuck the libs”?

Muskie took issue when the government mandated things to contain the virus. But now he's questioning individuals making their own decisions on risk tolerance over the virus?

    Hmm...curious.

I’ve shared my share of wedding related irritants.
Cousin was married over Labor Day Weekend.

Yep, 100% this. Also keeping with our small circle for both Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Sucks, but it’s ONE year. I feel pretty confident that things will be trending back to “normal” over the course of 2021.

Beefy Jr was invited to a Bar mitzfah in a couple weeks. We told him he could not go. The boy’s mother was ranting and raving about how no one is showing up to her son’s celebration. Un fucking real.

    Its about individual liberty.

And if you aren't for living freely as if the virus doesn't exist, then you don't deserve individual liberty.

Had originally felt good about a wedding in late April in Austin next year. My optimism is fading. Ugh.

We don't know that it's ONE year at all. There's ZERO indication that anything will be any better a year from now... absolutely ZERO! So while I am taking necessary precautions, I am done putting off life entirely because of this shit. Put on that mask and go to that fucking wedding if you want to. Stay from people you don't trust. I absolutely believe 2021 will be just as bad as 2020, covid-wise. There will much confusion and fighting about vaccines, their availability and effectiveness, who makes the most money from them, etc. And of course, lots and lots of CASES.

I mean, besides multiple vaccines in phase III and emergency use authorization on the horizon with mass use beginning in the spring, the bold is just flat out wrong.

Ah yes, the magical vaccine that's going to make everything all better in the flip of of a switch. This will not be the answer to everyone's prayers, and we'll still be very much in this same position a year from now. The vaccines will be delayed, and fought over about their availability and their effectiveness. Some will say it's rushed and unsafe, some will say it's unnecessary, some will say it's full of Bill Gates microchips, and many will not get the vaccine. This thing has too much momentum to just stop on a dime, even with a so-so vaccine. And until CASES are at or near zero, for a consistent period of time, people are going to be afraid and restrictions will remain.

You probably all think I'm nuts right now, but you probably won't next year. I can assure you I'm actually a pretty sane person, with normal opinions about things. I'm not a conspiracy theorist or a DOOMER, or some kind of Trump loving covid hoax believer. But this is really the only way I can see this going down. 2021 is going to be confusing.

Or maybe I'll be wrong, and we'll all be singing DMB at our favorite venues next summer. That'd be preferable, but I wouldn't bet on it happening.
